The Deck [Sunday, Late Morning]

Obligatory holiday call to Ellie down, and Chuck had taken his book and a 'breakfast' of a glass of Jelly Beans outside and found the he could add Peeps to the menu (so long as he was quick enough to get hold of them before the three second rule applied). The island didn't want him to be healthy today, so who was he to try and derail that plan? Seemed awesome to him.

He didn't have any grand ideas for ways to spend the day, so he was keeping it simple flopped out on a lounger with a book. It was pretty decent out for now, and he'd decided to relax and enjoy it.

"Eddard, " he mumbled through a mouthful of Peep, "you don't let your kids keep a direwolf, that's a terrible idea..." Even while reading, Chuck was physically unable to keep from talking, even if no one was likely to be listening.

"So, no dance?" Percy asked, trying to pout a bit because maybe he thought he'd be able to see Chuck be ridiculous. "It might help!"

"It's.... probably more likely to cause either me, or you, some kind of bodily harm." Flailing arms and the impulse to grab the nearest person when you were about to go crashing to the floor.

"You're the one who said it, aren't you at all worried?"

"I had three kids show up already," Percy shared, making a face. "I think the island has already seen fit to curse me with kids. It shouldn't want to get me again. I handled it not so good."

Chuck had handled two of his own before, and more recently one of his sister's... That was almost there.

"How not so good is not so good?" he asked after a few moments.

"...one of my kids punched me in the nose," Percy shared, making a face. "And then his dad decided to punch me too. So, that went...not so good."

Chuck winced. "Okay, so not good," he agreed. "I guess... at least he was small? I mean, I assume he was small."

Him and his extremely low pain threshold found the absence of injury a happier thought.

"The kid, not the-- wait, dad?" Heeey, he wasn't the only one with completely impossible future offspring. Comforting!

"Yeaaaaah," Percy said, running his fingers through his hair. "There were...three different dads. I guess the island didn't think I needed to knock up any girls in the future or something."

Okay. Someone had it way worse, and Chuck's eyebrows twitched upwards slightly.

"I'm really starting to appreciate the one kid with two daddies I had." It'd been odd, but there'd only been the one, and he was thankful for that, suddenly.

"I'm gonna say you're allowed a break."

"Thanks, man," Percy said, laughing. "You have a good kid? Or was he a brat and a half?"

"Not so bad!" She didn't try to punch him, at least. "Bratty in the super-talkative 'I know best' sort of way, but that's not a totally bad thing."

"Cute enough to about cancel it out."

"Which means you got luckier than me because I had a kid that punched me and a kid with a guy I cannot stand," Percy said, remembering Leander. "I don't think the island likes me much."
