Third Floor Common Room, Sunday Afternoon

After a somewhat stressful week, Kate had actually managed to have a pretty pleasant weekend. (A handwavy one-month anniversary could do that to a girl.) She was relaxed and something approaching happy, so today was the perfect day to devote to third floor party planning. Which was good since, you know, she hadn't actually done a lot of it yet. She'd decided the date would be next Friday, sure, but other than that... She had ideas. They just hadn't quite come together yet.

So she was in the common room, absently eating candy while sitting on a couch with her feet propped up on the edge of a coffee table and her MacBook in her lap. In no way waiting to pounce on innocent passers-by to pester them for ideas. No sir.

"I've been in worse trouble," she retorted lightly. "But I'll take that into account, anyway. Would be awful if you had to pine for me while I served my delightfully adult detention."

"Is there such a thing as adult detention?" Bod asked curiously.

"I have no idea," Kate admitted. "I was trying to use that sarcastically. I don't know whether they can even assign me detention since I'm technically not a student anymore."

"Well, they could arrest you," he pointed out and smiled. "So, I'd have to pine for you while you were waiting to be bailed out with someone who has far more money than me."

She snorted. "Just how much money are you expecting my bail to be, exactly? 'Cause I don't think that'd be a major offence, even here."

"I don't know," he laughed, shrugging. "A lot of money? Millions of dollars?"

"For having some alcohol in the dorms?" Kate asked, snickering. "Are you sure this isn't just some fantasy where you want to be dating a criminal?"

"Who says I have a fantasy like that?" Bod asked, laughing. "I have no such fantasies. You're devious enough for me."

"Well, I would rather think it was a fantasy than that you'd think they'd set my bail at millions of dollars if I threw a dorm party with some mead," Kate teased.

"That'd be a rather boring fantasy on my part, wouldn't it?" Bod asked, chuckling. "I'd be really dull."

"No," Kate said, though she wasn't surprised he'd think like that. "'Cause it'd be just the setup for the actual fantasy, y'know?"

"Yes, but the actual fantasy would be me bailing you out of jail with money," Bod pointed out, shrugging. "That doesn't sound like a very imaginative fantasy, does it? I should be slightly more creative."

"Hey, I meant the setup of the fantasy was you dating a criminal," Kate retorted, laughing a bit. "Just that. You're the one making it boring with the bureaucratic stuff!"

"If I wanted to date a criminal, I think I'd fantasize about a more interesting crime than alcohol on the beach," Bod laughed, shaking his head. "I have no idea what we're even talking about anymore."

"Nothing new there," she joked, reaching to kiss his cheek. "I'm very hard to keep up with."

"Besides, you don't have to be a criminal for me to fantasize about you," Bod said quietly. "I fantasize about you all the time. And no, you don't get details. At least, not here."

"I wasn't going to ask." Liar. Even though she didn't ask. "I'm perfectly content with this vague knowledge."

[therewaslife]

"I'm sure you are," Bod replied, not believing her one bit. "They're good fantasies, if that helps your contentedness. They wouldn't be anything but good, of course."

"You're a tease," she murmured, sounding far too happy about it as she gave his cheek another light kiss. "Horrible, horrible tease."

"I think I might have learned from the Queen of Deviousness," he murmured, smiling. "That's you, by the way."

She chuckled quietly, then pressed her words into his skin. "Good thing you clarified. I might've thought it was someone else."

No she wouldn't have.

"There is no one more devious than you," he replied, draping his arm across her shoulders and pulling her closer to his side. "There's no one who I'd rather learn from."

"Mmm." She pressed her laptop closed and shifted it off her lap as she leaned into him. "If I'm the best, there's no point in learning from anyone else."

"You are the best," he said and started nuzzling her cheek and ear with his nose and lips. "You're my favorite and I've already started reading that book you gave to me yesterday."

A happy sigh at his actions turned into a quiet snicker at his words. "Finding it interesting, are you?"
