Main Campfire, Friday Afternoon

Jeremy was failing at tradition. He was sitting by the main campfire, yet didn't have the makings of s'mores, nor did he have an actual campfire going. And that was a good thing. No one wanted Jeremy Darling to be the sole person watching over an open fire. No one averse to the accidental incineration of the cabins, at least.

He did, however, have a box of specially made mimosa cupcakes from J,GoB, because he'd been wanting to have some since Monday. He was blaming his sister for the craving. Not that it was a harsh kind of blame, because the cupcakes were delicious, and just the right thing to snack on while sitting back and relaxing.

Screw traditions. He'd had a weird enough couple of weeks to rather do things his way.

Juliet actually bounced when she spotted her brother. "Wow," she said smugly. "I'm totally psychic -- I was going to look for you. And oh my god, those look amazing, hi."

She didn't quite snag a cupcake without asking, but it was only because she hadn't gotten around to it yet.

"They're mimosa," Jeremy replied with a grin, nudging the box her way. "Have at, sis. Also, hi. You found me."

Though it probably didn't have anything to do with anyone being psychic.

"I did," Juliet confirmed happily. She snagged a cupcake and licked frosting off her finger before she continued talking. "Mmm. These are even better than I thought they'd be."

"So" -- her mouth was full now, and she had to swallow -- "I mentioned you in circus class. My sideshow talent would be pretending to be a Siamese twin."

She knew Siamese twins were always the same sex, but it struck her as beside the point for a sideshow.

Jeremy raised an eyebrow at that. "With me? Dude, aren't Siamese twins, like, supposed to be the same sex?" A beat. "Well, I guess it doesn't matter in the context. Actually it's just freakier with a guy and a girl. Cool."

"That's what I figured," Juliet said. "It's all about being a good show, right? I don't think bearded ladies are for real either."

"Probably not," Jeremy agreed, reaching for another cupcake. "You know, I coulda been a bearded lady a few weeks ago."

Well, he'd been a lady.

"I liked the person you were," Juliet said. "I wish I'd asked more about Andy Warhol, but Anna" -- slight grimace -- "was just sort of weirded out by the whole situation."

She finished her cupcake and added, "You didn't even look that much like you."

"Except naked." In a general, 'this is what you need to make a male body' kind of way. Jeremy was a little bummed out he still hadn't managed to turn into an actual girl.

He shrugged. "Candy wasn't really weirded out. I liked that about her. She didn't know much about Warhol though, I think she'd only just met him? She was all excited about that, but she was playing it cool."

Juliet nodded. "Anna wasn't sure if she was -- born a she, but she figured it'd be rude to ask." Not that she wanted to think about her brother naked, ever, and she was moving this conversation along right now.

"And well, yeah. I'd be excited. That was like the coolest group of people in New York back then. She probably got to go to awesome parties, even if she wasn't some Andy Warhol expert."

Jeremy picked at his cupcake. "I looked her up, afterwards," he shared. Of course, he meant after his little adventure in the locker. "Sounded like she had a pretty awesome time for a while. I'm actually a little jealous."

Not that they didn't get to go to awesome parties.

"We get to go to awesome parties too," Juliet said. "When we're home, anyhow."

Fandom was not a huge party scene.

"But yeah, I know what you mean. But when we're older? We'll totally define our era."

Through parties. it made sense if you were Juliet.

Perhaps sadly, it made sense if you were Jeremy, too. At least they were on the same page.

"Totally," he agreed with a wholehearted nod. "'Cause, like, we're the Darling twins. And it's not like we're gonna be having to compete against our siblings."

With the mature, sensible lives they were leading. Except for Karen, who was clearly defining her era through engagements.

"Of course not," Juliet said, leaning forwards a bit with some scorn. "Can you imagine Brian's idea of a party? But it'll be fun topping Karen's bridal showers."

She was thinking a week in Hawaii would about do it.

"Are you thinking Hawaii?" Jeremy was thinking Hawaii. "We'll be legendary."

"Everybody does Vegas anymore," Juliet nodded smugly. "It has to be either Hawaii or the Riviera, and Hawaii is prettier."

Considering him, she added, "We should do an actual party while we're stuck in the cabins. Break out of the rut, right?"

That was enough to get Jeremy leaning forward a bit, instantly taken with the idea. He was game, no surprise there. "We should!" he enthused. "That way we could ensure having at least one proper party while we're here."

"Totally," Juliet agreed, eyes sparkling. She pulled out her phone to look at her calendar (not that she didn't already know what was on it, but she liked feeling efficient). "Next Friday? Or we could wait a week and do a whole fireworks theme..."

[OOC: Sorry for the very late answer -- the day ate me.]

She could be efficient for both of them, because Jeremy probably didn't even have his phone on him. Not that there was anything on his calendar anyway.

"Or," he said, raising a finger, "we could do it next week and still have a fireworks theme, you know, to go against people's expectations?"

"Kind of start the holiday early," Juliet said approvingly. "I like that. We can get the diner to cater, maybe dig up a band ..."

She pursed her lips. "Do we know any musicians?"

"Here?" Jeremy asked, and his lips twisted a bit. "Apart from the funky undead dudes at the bar, I don't think we do. And I don't want those dudes at our party unless we're having it there."

"They wouldn't let us have fireworks if it was inside," Juliet pointed out, shaking her head. "... and those guys smell horrible. We'll DJ it."

More like he would DJ it and she would lobby for Selena Gomez records, probably.

"Maximum," Jeremy grinned like a man who was yet to realize there might be bickering about teenybopper starlets in his future. "So where do we wanna throw this shindig? Here in the campgrounds?"

"That or the beach," Juliet said, biting her lip thoughtfully. Party-planning was serious business. "Here is closer, but the beach is all ... beachy." Plus, she had a cute bikini and sarong that hadn't gotten worn nearly enough yet. "What do you think?"

"Well, the last major party was on the beach," Jeremy mused, tapping his chin. "But that was ages ago, and we've even been stuck in that horrible rainy place since, so who even remembers that at this point? And fireworks look totally wet by the water."

Not literally.

"I'm voting for the beach."

"It was rainy, and now it's 1880 or something," Juliet pouted. "It's making the island look good. It's totally time for a beach party."

She finished tapping into her calendar. "Especially if it's amazing."

"Which it will be, because it's us," Jeremy decided, a little smugly. "We'll totally rock this island with our party, Jules."

"Duh," Juliet informed him. "There was never a doubt."
