Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room

Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.

Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.

But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.

Fandom High? Get ready to rock.

HEY. Nothing was mildly dirty coming from the mouth of a Disney girl. Not even whacking things. Or banging things. Or... oh, forget it.

"Yeah, it's not! I mean, hey, if my drum-- I mean, if my friend Ashley can do it, so can you!"

...Nice save, Miley.

Karla just sighed fondly and shook her head. "It's pressing colored buttons in patterns," she said, as yet unaware just how hard that could actually be. "You'll be fine, darling. We'll have you, uhh, rocking out in minutes."

It's not like the dancing game they'd gotten, too. That could be dangerous, especially with a sixteen foot wingspan.

"It's probably more fun if it's not a concert. Less pressure." Quinn said, and scrunched her nose thoughtfully. "Even if I'll kind of miss the pressure."

She bounced the microphone in her hand. "How many of us can sing at once?"

She'd played the game, but never in a group this large.

"If nothing else, it's a chance to sing badly and still get marks for it," Warren laughed. "I can't see anything the matter with that."

He wanted to go running in the other direction so that he wouldn't have to, but he still didn't see anything the matter with it. Honest.

"Less likely to work on Warren than some other people," Karla said, shooting him a fond smile from across the room. "We'll just let him find out he enjoys it first and then work from there."

And if he didn't or was bad at it?

...Well, Karla hadn't thought that far ahead yet. She was banking on everyone having an amazing time instead.

"Do you know what you want to sing?"

"We'd all make the saddest faces at you if you didn't," Karla informed him, demonstrating such a face. "And assume you didn't like us. You wouldn't want that, now would you?"

Warren opened his mouth, about to comment on that one, and then thought better of it and closed it again while he thought up a better reply than 'yes.'

...

"It's not that public," Warren offered, instead.

"Nobody here calls anybody else a loser," Quinn said. "It's still seriously dorky, but I had fun with it."

Okay, so she'd signed up mostly because she wanted to keep an eye on Puck around Ariel. Miley didn't need to know that.

"We have a glee club?" Said the guy who'd never gone to high school before here and was basing all his knowledge of such things off bad television.

Oh, Karla. Didn't you known the Disney girl school of girlfriending? You had to train them. Sigh.

"Yes! Totally. Is there any Hannah Montana on this thing?"

Actually, she knew that there was, because she'd attended a whole reception to honor it.

"I'm, like, the world's best Hannah Montana impersonator," she explained.

"Not that I'm aware of," Warren replied, smiling crookedly. "And even if they have, I'm pretty sure nobody will be heartbroken if we pass things around and take turns."

"Public enough!"

"And I'm from a different world entirely," Karla said with a laugh. "Kiss kiss--I'm Karla, by the way."

She pulled up the song list and paged through until she found the songs with keyboard parts. Marshall didn't want to know how long it had taken her to learn even that much of the game.

"Shall we pick a song neither of us know?" she offered, picking up a guitar. "This way, we'll both be on equal footing."

"I just pick easy songs and try to sound sexy," Quinn admitted. "Probably works better if you're a girl."

"Really? No one?" That was new. "Like there aren't popularity lists or anything?"

What, did Amber and Ashley's reign not extend this far? That was surprising.

Yep. Still subtle like a sack of concrete, that Miley.

"Your drum-friend Ashley is a bit of a Rock Band pro, is she?"

"Uhh, two I think," Karla said. "One can take melody and the other harmony. But I'm willing to pick up the drums or something. It's not like I know most of these songs anyway."

Though they might have to pry a microphone out of Miley's hands.

Hey, now. He'd only spread those wings if he found himself in sudden danger of tipping over! And he had the balance of a bird!

No problem!

Theoretically.

"... When you put it like that, I kind of feel silly for being nervous," he admitted, pursing his lips a bit.

Quinn looked at the cat statue. "You spent all weekend shopping for antiques?"

Wow, way to make it sound gay, Quinn.

"And yeah, I was a pretty pink pony with a Q on my hip," she admitted. "Fun at first, but the novelty wore off fast."

"You could also work my foot pedal!" Karla offered as she missed yet another note because of the cursed thing. "Or play the keyboard. You know, whatever."

What was it with males and singing?

Ooh! A cute guy! A cute guy who could possibly sing, because he was here at Rock Band and Rock Band was for singing and playing instruments and that was awesome!

"Hi!" she chirped. "I'm Miley."

"We did last year," Quinn said, tilting her head at him as she tried to figure out why he was asking. "Weren't you here part of the school year?"

"Well, we'll all be doing it, too," Warren pointed out.

And yes, he would jump off a bridge if all of his friends were doing it.

To catch them.

Aww. That meant he needed a kiss. Also, it had been almost fifteen minutes since the last time she'd kissed him, so obviously they were about due.

"It's something you never tried before," she pointed out. "And we're kind of collecting an audience." Which would certainly help his nervousness, good job, Karla. "But you're going to be fine. I have faith in your button-pressing abilities."

"Hi, Miley," he replied, eyebrows going up at the cheer. "I'm Tony."
