Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room
Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.
Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.
But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.
Fandom High? Get ready to rock.
[Open for anyone who wants to play.
not_a_parakeet modded to an ungodly degree with permission! Just a warning about SP and Karla's threads--I will be AFK all day, but if you're willing to wait until Thursday that's fine by me.]

She moved over and waved at the array of instruments. "Take your pick."

She pulled up the song list and paged through until she found the songs with keyboard parts. Marshall didn't want to know how long it had taken her to learn even that much of the game.
"Shall we pick a song neither of us know?" she offered, picking up a guitar. "This way, we'll both be on equal footing."

Where had he heard the name Karla before? Oh! Butters! Marshall glanced around to make sure there were no baked goods nearby.

"Do you play the piano for real?" Karla asked, glancing over towards him. "There's a special mode where you can actually play the notes, I think. I might try it when it's my turn at the keyboard."
no subject
"I do!" Marshall confirmed. "I was in a band back at my old school, we even had a demo and everything."

Sorry, Marshall. Not from around here.

IT WAS POSSIBLE. THEY HAD DOWNLOADED MILLIONS. MILLIONS.

And, y'know, had basically broken up when his parents pulled Marshall from Blake Holsey High.
[Wiki informs me that there were over 2000 songs in the Rock Band catalog as of the end of 2010. 2000.]

[I swear, we have like half of them on our system!]

He paused. "Uh, garage rock is... So there's this whole thing where lots of kids start up bands in high school, and usually they end up practicing in their parents' garage? So it gets called garage rock. And it's not like they all play the same kind of music, but a lot of it tends to fall into this, like, one major rock subgenre?"
Usually because the kids teach themselves, like, two chords and think they're going to make it big, Marshall. At least you've got them beat there!

Like 'Smoke on the Water,' say, otherwise known as 'the first guitar riff learned ever.'

"Sounds good!" Marshall agreed.
