Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room

Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.

Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.

But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.

Fandom High? Get ready to rock.

"You can't really want me to sing, can you?" Warren was totally game for this, but he was giving the microphone a dubious eyeing-up all the same. "I could probably do pretty well on the... Uh..."

He squinted a little at the equipment set out in front of them. It had seemed like an excellent idea in theory, and even while they were doing the setup. But now that they were about to put their plan into motion.

"... Triangle? Why isn't there a Rock Band Triangle?"

Karla laughed at him. Kindly. Really. "Well, I can sing, but I don't know any of the songs," she reminded. "Well, maybe some of them."

After all, Dinah had given her an ipod of music and there were roughly FOUR MILLION SONGS they'd just downloaded. Surely there would be one or two she recognized.

"You can try the keyboard?"

Miley was bursting with energy as she charged into the common room. "Oh my god, Rock Band. I can sing!" she exclaimed brightly. Which she so could.

Then --

"Wait. Sorry. I'm Miley. Can I sing?"

"Please? Sing? Take my microphone, I don't need it," Warren said, holding the offending piece of hardware in her direction.

Completely ignoring the fact that there were two. Somebody had cold feet.

"Miley!" Karla offered the other girl a smile and a wink. "Hi, I'm Karla. This is what I look like when I'm not blue and hooved. Kiss kiss. And, sure, come in! Neither of us know what we're doing yet."

There was quite an interesting sound coming from the rec room as Alexander (and, yes, the ugly cat statue tucked under his arm) passed by the rec room, and, perhaps foolishly, he decided to investigate things a little closer.

"What is going on?" he wondered as he drifted in an eye the strange equipment that, at the very least, he could recognize as instruments.

Quinn flipped a hand to him in a wave. "Haven't seen you in a while. Ready to rock out?"

There was a touch of irony on that "rock out."

"Gaming night," Warren explained, looking a little out of his element as he waved his toy microphone around to gesture to the rest of the stuff. "We're going to pretend that we all have some measure of musical talent. It'll be great."

He was kind of getting to that point, now, where he was glancing speculatively around for convenient escape routes, in case he was extra terrible at this.

"We're playing a video game!" Karla announced, giving Alexander a wave. "But I guess you can also even learn to play these instruments if you play a special part of the game."

But they weren't doing that, oh no. Karla was having enough trouble convincing Warren to sing.

See, Marshall had come downstairs to play piano anyway. This... looked interesting.

"Video game night," Warren said, very helpfully. "Trust me, it's a great idea."

He didn't seem so convinced himself. But it beat cupcakes. He knew that very well.

Someone Karla didn't really know!

"It's a game!" she told him, in case he hadn't figured it out for himself yet. "We're pretending to be a rock band and we have to go on tour and make millions of dollars and lots of fans."

Quinn poked her head in, eying the instruments. "Is glee club starting up again already?" she asked suspiciously.

Though there was some covetousness in those eyes. She might want to sit in on a song. Or three. You know, just because there was nothing on TV.

"Oh my god, there's a glee club at this school? I totally have to sign up."

Someone was bursting with energy.

"Aw, you don't have your initial stuck to you anymore!"

"Rock Band night," Warren replied, with an almost apologetic little smile in Quinn's direction. "I can't promise anything resembling talent or even rhythm, tonight. But at least it should be fun?"

"Close enough to count?" Karla said, offering Quinn the microphone. "I don't think this counts as a concert, though. Even if we do have more instruments."

For one thing, this band couldn't perform flawlessly after getting the music mere minutes ago. Hell's fire, they couldn't perform flawlessly on the fifth iteration of the same song.

"We have a glee club?" Said the guy who'd never gone to high school before here and was basing all his knowledge of such things off bad television.

"Not exactly the game I had in mind, but this works too," Tony decided once he'd dragged himself away from his computer for food.

Sweet, sweet take out pizza.

Warren didn't need saving. Warren was a big baby. And he was the one who had paid for the damn Rock Band kit.

Sookie wandered in, saw the assembled chaos, and immediately said, "I'm not singing. I'm not."

"That's what I keep saying."

And yet, Warren was still clutching the mic to his chest, looking only mildly panicked. Only mildly.

All the noise that was coming out of the rec room made Billy stop on his way in, and he took one step in before hanging back in the doorway. "Are you guys going to make beautiful music in here?"

"They're calling it beautiful, now?"

Run. Run before Warren starts to sing, Billy.

Bobby... was mostly here because Sookie had insisted. And because he didn't want to disappoint Warren. It wasn't that this sort of party didn't interest him, because it did, normally he loved this sort of stuff, but, well.

With the way things were still kind of awkward between him and Karla, he didn't know if she even wanted him here, potentially spoiling her fun.

In any case, he was kind of... hanging out at the edge of the room by himself for the moment.

"You have to sing with me," Warren informed Bobby as he made his way over to him. "Because this is my first time playing this game, ever, and if I'm making an idiot of myself, I need to know I have backup."

Warren was also very straightforward.

"Wait, where's the violin controller?" Freddie asked, looking at the equipment. "Did they come out with a new edition of this?"

...She hadn't remembered seeing one of those at the store.

"O-oh, b-boy!" Butters followed the sound of singing and discovered what he turly hoped he would find when he got there. "Is that Rock Band?"

"Yup!" Karla said, giving him a nod because her hands were kind of busy with the guitar. "You want to play? Come on in!"

Asuna's ears perked up at the sound of someone singing. "Hey, is someone singing karaoke?"

"ASUNA!" To Hell with the fact that she was in the middle of a song. She tossed the microphone to a random member of the crowd and dashed over to her friend. "Mother Night, it is so good to see you!"

Scully clearly hadn't hung out with Karla recently. "Scully!" she yelled, spotting the other female. "Hey, Scully, come and try this game!"
