Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room

Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.

Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.

But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.

Fandom High? Get ready to rock.

"Watch, point at, and laugh?" Warren knew how these spectator sports went! "I've never, ever done this before. So watching might be wisest. It means you can get to the door to escape the racket faster than anyone in the band."

Billy put on a look of mock offense. "I wouldn't laugh! At least not where you could see me," he said. "Everyone has to start somewhere, right? You're bound to suck less with practice, and who knows, you might be better than you think."

"Maybe," Warren allowed. "Or maybe I'll decide by the end of the day that I probably should have stuck with... accounting, or something."

Such an exciting hobby, that one.

Billy laughed. "I'm pretty sure that between rock star and accountant, there's a middle ground that holds something a lot more appropriate."

"I'm not putting on tights," Warren intoned.

... It was a reflex, by now.

"Or, um, anything weird like that."

Yeah. Smooth.

[Bedtime right away! Sp?]

"Hey, I wasn't going to go there at all," Billy said, putting his hands up.

Because really, he couldn't say anything about form-fitting clothes. Being aerodynamic was important!

"But you've got to admit that not many people here are likely to go into boring professions in the future."

"Okay, I can't contest that," Warren allowed, smirking faintly. "How much royalty do we have, here on the island? And probably some actual rock superstars or zombie hunters or whatever. Fandom doesn't really educate many janitors or mailroom clerks."

"And even the people who plan to go back home and be shop clerks or office personnel probably get changed enough by this place to want to find something a little more daring," Billy said.

"I think it would be pretty much impossible to take 'safe and quiet' and just run with it after leaving here," Warren laughed, shaking his head. "I know I'm going to have trouble with that, once I graduate next year. I've gotten a taste for the excitement, and I want more."

Warren would someday learn to be careful what he wished for. It wasn't like things around here ever stayed quiet for very long, even without him tempting the island.
