Rock Band Party, Tuesday Evening, First Floor Rec Room

Karla and Warren had celebrated their return to their proper forms in the way that many teenagers would find appropriate: they'd headed back to the modern mainland, found a toy store, and bought a gaming system (or three). Along with the games they bought to go along with said system, they also picked up a few guitars, a keyboard, a drum set, and two microphones.

Once back in the rec room, the rest of the afternoon had been spent setting up the systems and buying every single song available for the game. Waiting for them to finish downloading actually took longer than the initial setting up, even taking in Karla's attempts to 'help'.

But now the system was set up, the songs were ready, and the instruments prepared.

Fandom High? Get ready to rock.

"I can play the triangle!" Scully was all about rhythm. Sure. No problem. "Or tambourine?"

"Warren asked for the triangle, too," Karla mused. "And we ended up singing a duet. Pick an instrument we actually ha~ave."

Scully looked at the guitars-- no. Keyboard. It'd been years and tears since she'd played. "Drums," she said in resignation. Although she might be shepherded off them if she couldn't manage to hold the drumsticks right. "Drums it is."

"Oooh, good choice!" Karla said. "I've been playing those a lot tonight too mostly because of the icon. They're hard! I'll play the foot pedal if you need me to!"

Scully gave her a rueful smile, and said, "That might be the only part I get right. How do we start this--- I just start a rhythm?"

Yeah, someone isn't up on Dance Dance Revolution or anything recent.

Karla smiled and shook her head, waiting for the singer to pick a song. "Nope. Don't worry, the game will tell you what to do. You hit the color drum it shows when it hits the bottom of the screen, see? Just hit it on time. And tap the pedal when the thick line shows up."

"Ha!" Sorry, Scully is thrilled it's that simple. "Okay then. I can follow colors. And timing." Woo!

"Guitar and keyboard are the same way," Karla explained. "The only thing you have to worry about using your own knowledge for is singing."

Which Scully had seemed anxious not to do anyway.

Very anxious. Colors couldn't help her sing. Drums, on the other hand, were only a matter of timing. "Ahhhh. Sometimes I'm out of touch because I'm old... and sometimes it's because I'm from ten years ago. Nice to understand this now."
