Second floor stairs to First Floor Lobby, afternoon

"Have you got it secure?"

Kenzi appeared to be talking to thin air there, at least for the moment.

[ooc: for the ninjaaaaa, and then open to whoever walks by!]

Simon, being said thin air she was talking to, really had only one way to answer that question while he was invisible.

And that was to let go of the campaign message light pattern he'd been hanging up so it could be seen from the lobby. No longer affected by his power, the glow sticks and chili lights rippled back into being visible.

Yes, he'd got it secure.

"I'm not going to stand here all day," Simon pointed out. Even as he took hold of the power cord and backed away some, yes. "I'm not a light switch."

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Simon looked at the sign. Then, in the deadpan way he generally reserved for Nathan's various shows of obliviousness, he said, "Yes, I think it's big enough."

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"... You nominated him?" No, Simon hadn't known that. He tilted his head, and frowned. "But, aren't you supposed to nominate yourself? With... an essay?"

Or something. He wasn't sure what the procedure was.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:41 pm (UTC)(link)
"But... shouldn't he have done that himself?"

Oh, he'd learn.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Yeah, he wasn't really sure he should believe that. But he didn't want to accuse her of lying, either. He'd save that for later. "But do you think he'll like a sign like this?"

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:56 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's... very loud. Bright." A complete and utter eyesore. Still, she'd wanted him to hang it up and he had, because it was nice to be wanted. "But it'll catch everyone's attention, yes."

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:08 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe chips and onion rings," he suggested with a quick smile. "He's British too?"

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
"Mine left, already," Simon replied, nodding. "M-my big sibling, I mean. She was good too. But I don't know if I woud've done --" He glanced at the sign again. "-- all this, for her."

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Who's Quinn?"

Simon... didn't know too many people, no.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 03:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Simon may have heard those words about himself a few times – 'tightly wound', not 'cheerleader type', obviously – and he looked a little awkward there, just for a second or two.

"Oh."

He couldn't think of anything else to say, so he fiddled with the lights some more.

So this mystery nomination thing had been an utter surprise to Wesley at first, but yesterday he thought he'd figured it out.

And then he happened to stumble upon this. Why was he only moderately surprised?

"...Dear lord, Kenzi, what on earth are you doing?"

[[You know the drill, SP-palooza! But come on.]]

Yeah, unfortunately Wesley had seen the whole thing. He was fairly horrified.

Okay. There was a moment of temple-massaging. Then:

"Is there a reason," he asked slowly, "that you felt the need to do this?"

Besides funsies.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Simon hadn't had a chance to make anything disappear, not with that little warning. He looked a little sheepish.

"This is all her," he said from the stairs, just in case. "Her idea."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're aware, I trust," he clarified, "that I didn't actually want to campaign this year?"

Wesley didn't actually sound mad at this point -- just a bit tired. LIKE HE NEEDED THIS NOW.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
And Simon? Was going to level a look at Kenzi now.

She'd said Wesley wanted to campaign!

Wesley facepalmed. Why couldn't he have gotten another calm, studious little sib like Freddie? Because the Little Sib gods had wanted to light up his life, that's why. No offense, Freddie.

"I appreciate you support," he said dryly. "Did it occur to you that you're driving two innocent girls into a competitive wreck in the process?"

Of course. That was the point! Duh.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Simon was just going to be staring some more, and considering invisibility after all. Lost for words for the moment.

Seriously, what was Kenzi doing, actually?

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh! Sigh sigh sigh.

"It may be too late for that at this point," he said, and now he was running a hand through his hair like this was the world's most difficult problem or something. (Well. It was Kenzi.) "As I've promised Quinn I'll ally with her for the duration of the campaign."

It was to stop blood being shed! Really! Though seriously, Wes, that had NOT fit at all with Kenzi's plan.

Simon, however, was getting a free pass on account of the fact that Wes could see that he wanted about as much to do with this as he did. He offered the other boy a slightly sympathetic look.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
He was getting one back, though it was a whole lot more awkard. "I'm sorry," Simon even said. "I should... go."

Because yes, awkward. And not really his business.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"You're welcome to," Wesley said to relieve him of the awkwardness, then added, "Thank you for the, er. Lights."

Not that he had wanted them in the first place, but it was hard to ditch the politeness, especially around another English kid.

[identity profile] forhisfriends.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, Simon wasn't quite as... posh as Wesley, but he was polite and quiet by nature, so it was natural to say, "You're welcome."

Even if it felt weird to say about something the other boy clearly hadn't wanted. Oh well. Simon gave Kenzi a brief nod, then went on his way to go upstairs to his room.

He'd talk to Kenzi about this more later.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Wesley was smirking now, because, hey. One-up on Kenzi. Always nice.

"We decided it would be mutually beneficial to form a single party," he explained. A bit primly, because this was smug Wes. What could you expect? "I'm sorry to disappoint you!"

He wasn't.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 11:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Wesley sighed. Thought about it. Then waved a hand.

"Oh, all right, I suppose."

He turned to go, then doubled back to add, "Though 'Wes' and 'best' don't actually rhyme, I hope you know."

It was important!

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
"Dear lord, no," Wesley said quickly. Whether it was the prospect of the humiliation or the lecture he'd get from Quinn that acted as the deterrent, he did not know. But seriously. NO.

Then the part about the badass angle hit, and his eyes went wide.

"Oh," he said, straightening his collar slightly. "Well. Thank you."

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-06 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Sigh.

"Yes, all right." It was at least more intellectually stimulating than sleeping, at any rate. He did hope she'd be a bit better at it than Percy had been. "When would you like to do that?"

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-07 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Sigh.

"Fine, fine," he agreed. "Do try not to kill us all, would you?"

But that was mostly good-natured. She had to be a better shot than some others he'd worked with Percy, so he wasn't terribly worried.

[identity profile] wesleynotponcy.livejournal.com 2011-09-07 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
"Good," he said, nodding in satisfaction. "Well. Wednesday, then."

With a nod in her direction, he was off, hoping all the while that he would wake up in the morning to find the maintenance workers taking down the lights. Really. Please.
