First Floor Rec Room, iCarly Presents the Student Council Debates, Friday Evening

Freddie was only partially scrambling to get everything in place for the live broadcast. Chairs were set up for the audience, each candidate had a podium, and Sam even had a little moderator's table. He'd gone all out for this set-up, even going so far as to wear the tux he'd worn for when they'd done the iCarly awards.

"Okay, we'll be live in just a few minutes, everybody," he announced. "Just relax, be yourselves, and if anyone in the audience tries to interrupt at all, I'd just like to remind you that our moderator is Sam Puckett."

It wasn't so much a threat as a healthy reminder. "And again, thanks to all you candidates for joining in. I promise we won't throw any pies or ask you to sit in fudgeballs."

And with that, Freddie went about the final prep, leaving a few minutes for the audience to mill about, and the candidates to do their final prep as well.

Sam's moderator outfit included a blue and yellow striped tie. It was, in fact, the only concession to it not being a typical iCarly broadcast that she'd gone with, and as such, she was wearing it with her red and white striped shirt and shiny skinny jeans.

Don't you judge.

"Wait, we're not throwing pies?" She pouted. "I didn't sign on for that."

"Well we have to make some concessions so the candidates are comfortable," Freddie said. "Plus I spent most of the week's budget on podiums instead of pies."

Look, don't ask how Toby found himself here. He'd seen the posters, of course, but it hadn't actually registered that it was happening now and that he'd kind of stumbled across it.

...And somehow, instead of taking a seat in the audience, he'd ended up standing at one of the podiums, looking a bit like a deer caught in the headlights.

Sam stared very seriously at the camera from behind her moderator's table, carefully stacking and lining up a set of brightly colored index cards. Once they were perfectly straight, she held them up for the camera to see. The first was electric green. It said "Fandom High" in big, thick black marker. She set that one down on the table. The next, bright pink, said "Student Council", then there was a yellow one reading "Candidate Debates!!!!". Then blue saying "brought to you by", then purple reading "Electric western dance river monkeys".

She continued to stare very seriously into the camera as she slowly picked up all the rest of the cards, stood up, and walked past the candidate's podiums, flinging index cards into the air and letting them flutter to the ground where they will. Then she walked past the audience, still flinging cards into the air, still staring seriously at the camera. Then she leaned in close.

"Debaaaaaaaaaaaaaaates." She whispered. Then, quickly: "iCarly!"

What, you expected a serious speech or something?

"And now," Freddie narrated, "We ask each of our candidates to do a brief introduction as to who they are. Starting with... you!" Freddie said, pointing the camera at a random candidate.

Oh. Guess he was first, then.

"My name is Wesley Wyndam-Pryce," Wesley introduced himself. "I'm from Southern Hampshire in England, where I formerly attended the Watchers' Academy. I've been at Fandom for a year, and I'm running to repeat my role as student council representative to the class of 2012."

A beat.

"I, ah, I'm running alongside Miss Fabray," he added politely. "We're, er, co-candidates."

How was he supposed to know that this had made Annie cry earlier? Honestly.

"Hi. My name is Dave Nelson and I'm running for Sophomore Class Representative," Dave said. "I grew up in Wisconsin, where I served the community in the Boy Scouts and as part of 4-H. As part of these organizations and even during my time as part of Fandom's Pirate Radio, I learned the value of leadership, teamwork, and good old fashioned hard work. Also, I care enough about this school and the people who go here to actually sign up and run from the first day, showing that I want this job much more than any sophomore who signs up sometime after this and turns it into a real race instead of a statistical inevitability. Thank you."

Annie was being a good girl and not glaring at her competition. Because she was pointedly not looking at them. Glaring would not help her. So when it was her turn, she did her best to turn on the cute-and-perky yet serious-about-her-work charm.

"My name is Annie Edison, and I'm running for senior representative. Now, I've been hearing a lot of complaints about Student Council, that all they do is plan dances. Well, I'm not running for a dance committee. I'm running for Student Council. Fandom High has given me so much since I've been here, and I want to give back. I want to add fun activities to get people involved, and increase awareness about social issues. I've been trying to meet with the senior class especially- and if I haven't seen you yet, I will- and trying to find out what they want done here, and I want to try and implement them. This is your school. You should get what you want from it. And I want to remind everyone that this is not a popularity contest. I'm not popular. I'm running because I know I'm the best person to do the job. I'm not like the other senior candidates. I don't need to use someone else's campaign as a crutch for my own. I actually want to be here, and I'm not using this opportunity for my own gain. I want to do what's best for everyone, and if you want that too, you'll do the right thing and vote for me. Thank you."

They said brief, Annie.

Moderated Questions

Here there will be the questions from the moderator, Sam Puckett. Each candidate will be able to answer the questions, and their fellow candidates will have a chance to have a rebuttal against other candidates' statements, if they wish.

There's a microphone, a spare camera pointed at it, and a space to make a little queue in an aisle so that people can ask questions in person.

Closing... Random Dancing

"We'd like to thank all our candidates for appearing this evening," Freddie said. "And now we'd like all of them to say--"

Freddie didn't get to finish asking them to say some final remarks, instead the A/V rig announced "Rrrrrrraaaaaandom Dancing!" and the little flashing lights went off and music began to play. So, really, it was time for the candidates to randomly dance, instead.

In the Audience

And We're Clear!

After everyone had randomly danced, an infographic had appeared on the webcast telling everyone the show was over and to tune in for iCarly next week.

"And we're clear!" Freddie announced happily, and even applauded all the candidates. "Great job, everybody. Thank you so much for doing this."

Now was the time for more milling and talking.

And also for Freddie to do all the work at taking down the set, because it wasn't like Sam was going to help.

Like it says in the OCD, each question posed to the candidates will be their own OCD thread, and each candidate can ping their answer off that, and then any rebuttals pinged off of that. I will get up the internet questions in a moment, and our lovely moderator will get her questions up as soon as she is available.

Thank you to everyone for making this idea happen, especially the candidates, the admins, and my poor lovely fellow iCarlyite whom I shoved responsibilities on for my idea, heh.
