Bruce had no interest in dealing with the television today. It was going to just show something that some people would think he'd find embarrassing, he wouldn't be embarrassed (or even annoyed), and that would be it. But there was enough embarrassment and annoyance going around the dorms today, it seemed, so Bruce was going to try to tackle that in some small way: with cake.

Sure, he didn't usually eat much junk food, but he figured that a day when someone changed genders might not be so bad if it was changed to the day when someone changed genders and also had cake. In the meantime, he was just going to read a book about chess strategies while having a piece of cake himself.

"It's only girls this time from what I can tell," Bruce said. "Don't worry, there will surely be karmic payback eventually."

"That's not fair." Seeing Bruce as a girl would have been a minor balm to her bad mood.

"Not really, no," Bruce said. "That's why I got cake for the girls. Make up for it at least a little."

"It's good cake. This body is stupid and large and clumsy," Cara grumbled through a mouthful of cake. "And it does...things."

Things she was supposed to cause, not suffer through.

"I assume that 'things' means exactly what I would think it does?" Bruce asked. "Because those things will happen, unfortunately. You just have to deal with them."

"Yes, and all the time." Because apparently Cara had never heard of oversharing. "I can't spend all weekend dealing with it."

"Are you actually saying that you have less ability to deal with that than the average teenage boy?" Bruce asked.

"No." Cara would never admit a teenage boy could do anything better than her. "But my hands will start cramping if I have to take care of it every five minutes."

"By 'deal with it,' I actually meant 'ignoring it,'" Bruce pointed out.

That was much easier to do when your body wasn't doing it's best to let everyone else know. "Ignoring it doesn't make it behave and go away."

"And somehow males are able to accomplish things every day," Bruce said.

"They've had time to get used to it. Plus you can distract them easily enough."

"And by 'distract them' you mean exactly what I think you do, don't you?" Bruce asked.

Cara dropped the pout long enough to look smug. "That or hitting them." Violence was always an answer!

"Would it help if I knocked you out?" Bruce asked.

Considering that Cara considered fighting a legitimate form of foreplay, not really.

"As if you'd be able to." Because she hadn't just been complaining about her lack of coordination in this body, or anything.

"We're nearly even on our best days," Bruce said. "You're in an unfamiliar body with unfamiliar parts distracting you while wearing a makeshift skirt. I'd have a distinct advantage."

"But I have no worries about kicking you..." Cara paused, looked down, then reconsidered. "Maybe you have a point."

"At least you'd be focusing on it for different reasons," Bruce said. "You'd be distracted from the distractions."

"If I wanted to do that I could just get an agiel out." There was a difference between drawing strength from pain and recklessly damaging sensitive equipment.

And yet she had so little respect for Bruce's sensitive equipment.

"Well, if taking your mind off the problem with violence is out of the question, then you're running low on options. Have you tried cold showers?"

It gave him incentive to dodge faster, so really, she was helping him. Besides even if she did do him damage, she was sure he'd have little trouble finding someone to help kiss it better.

"Yes, it only works while I'm in one." And she had even less desire to spend the weekend waist deep in cold water than with misbehaving anatomy.

With the way Cara kicked, it would probably be a no kissing area for a while. But he'd probably be able to get a couple offers....

"So the final decision is to just grumble about it until you change back?

There were probably lots of girls who were into the whole tending wounds things. Some of them were probably still girls too.

"Oh, sure put it like that." Which was to say, accurately.

"Can you put it another way?" Bruce asked.

Yes, he knew that this line of phrasing was problematic. He was trusting that Cara wouldn't be juvenile about that. Unlike Bruce's player who can't resist calling attention to it.
