Halloween Mixer - 6th Floor, Monday After Classes

When people arrived for the party, the sixth floor was decked out with what appeared to be half of a party store. Like Halloween got sick all over the place. With glitter. You couldn't have Halloween without an inordinate amount of glitter, right? It was high school, this was a law.

If you ignored that, the rest of the place was set up for people to be able to hang out and get to know each other. Or continue to know each other.

Whichever worked for the guests.

Too late. I was already judging you before I got to this thread.

Since it was a fraternity event, Ben felt that his costume of a giant slice of pizza was only appropriate.

After a few minutes of frustration trying to carve a pumpkin with a knife, he was seriously considering heading down to the weapons locker to pick up his vibroblade. Or a lightsber. That wouldn't end badly, right?

Rilla still didn't think Jims was all that adorable, but she had to admit he looked kind of cute in his wee dragon costume (http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91T6udh6tkL._SL1500_.jpg), which went well with her fairy princess (http://www.costumesupercenter.com/womens+costumes-princess/56031-deluxe-queen-arwen-adult-costume.html) costume.

Please don't get Rilla started on how long it took her to find a costume that covered her knees. Please, please don't.

Jack, for once, was totally in the spirit of things. Possibly because tonight involved lots of junk food.

He even got dressed up in costume!

As a sheriff. A very authentic looking sheriff outfit.

Gosh. Wonder where he got the costume.

Ender... was not really a Halloween kind of guy, per se, but he did believe in participating - to at least pretend to be part of the community, if not more than that.

But he wasn't going to stoop to costumes that were too silly; his steampunk outfit was fairly civilised and normal.

Compared to Ben, anyway.

Meh. Halloween.

Still, it was a social event, so Peter guessed he should make an appearance. Which he did, dressed in... a bowling shirt, normal pants and shoes, and a bit of smug cheerful.

Natalie hadn't made much of an effort to dress up. She was wearing a small black domino mask and had opted for an all-black outfit, but that was it.

She didn't intend to stick around for long, but at least she'd shown up, right?

Yes, handling sharp knives while socializing sounded just fine to Stephanie. What was wrong with that?

Also, what was wrong with carving a pumpkin with a Bat-symbol? NOTHING, THAT'S WHAT.

Topher was in a decent mood today. Yes, he'd had to touch bras yesterday, but Ramona actually hadn't been that horrible to him overall. Plus, he'd finally gotten Dave to settle on a design for the door, and he was actually proud of it.

And he had the coolest meta for Space Battles costume in the world, complete with a meta for fake lightsaber. So. There was that.

Annie kind of loved Halloween. There was just something about getting dressed up and telling scary stories with MASSIVE, MASSIVE GORE WTF ANNIE that she loved. So she was here in her skeleton costume, and considering a pumpkin.

Please no one let her near a pumpkin.

"What are you making?" Rilla inquired, peering at the pumpkin carving.

"It's a thing from home," Stephanie explained, even if it was a little bit unarticulate thanks to the tip of her tongue poking out of the corner of her mouth in concentration as she poked the tip of the knife carefully at the pumpkin. Getting some of the pointier bits of the Bat-symbol right without lopping them right off the pumpkin was tricky. "Strikes fear into the hearts of crooks and villain scum on sight."

It's a stylized bat, Steph, and half-carved it might not be that obvious. Or scary.

Marshall's costume (http://img.costumecraze.com/images/vendors/rubies/889079-Adult-Deluxe-Mad-Scientist-Costume-large.jpg) was, perhaps, predictable -- but at least it was a little more than just a white labcoat and some hair gel, right?

And of course he was trying the pumpkin carving: it's just that his carving was a picture of a caffeine molecule.

[I am on serious SP today as I run back and forth, and then I'm at a Samhain ritual tonight -- but I had to ping him him. :D ]

Well, maybe in some parallel world. You know. Before all the Crises.

Luckily Stephanie didn't say anything about that. "Noooooo, but bats are scary, right?" She poked another little chunk of pumpkin free. "It's a work in progress."

Really, really slow progress. This pumpkin had a super thick hull.

"Ick, bats," Rilla said, wrinkling her nose up. "They are very scary."

Oh, with a costume like that, Ben had to comment. While dressed as a giant slice of pizza.

"That's not how a lightsaber works at all."

Thank you, Ben. Very helpful.

Topher glanced down at the fake lightsaber. "Well, duh," he said with a little roll of his eyes. "It's plastic. No way could it withstand the kind of diatium power you'd need for it to really work."
