Laundry room- Friday afternoon

Annie was multitasking. Baby Isabella had stopped with that random screaming thing she'd been doing earlier and progressed to full-on crying, which Annie couldn't stop her from doing. She'd heard of certain things that might help, though, so after leaving her laundry to finish washing earlier, she brought Isabella down, intending to put her on top of the dryer and let it rock her to sleep or whatever.

This would have been a better idea if only the washer had washed anything at all. In fact, when she tried to take her stuff out, a bunch of things seemed to be stuck around the turny thingie inside the machine like it was purposely keeping her clothes from her.

So now there was a frustrated Annie with undone laundry and a crying droid baby. Have fun with that.

Rilla had been trying to do laundry without success since Tuesday, and Jims was now stuck wearing clothing that was too large for him.

"Please tell me this is working now," she begged.

Rilla looked extremely frustrated. "I'm this close to washing things in the sink or down in the pond or something."

She finally noticed the droid baby. "...who's that?"

"You weren't going to put her in the dryer, right?"

"I've never tried that," Rilla said. "Generally I just pace with Jims. I think I've walked a path across my carpet."

"Because no one else will," Rilla replied. "He can't take care of himself and if I don't tend him when he cries, he'll just cry all the louder. Besides, if my brother can face German guns, I can handle a little baby without shirking."

"Well, there's a lot of it," Rilla said, "and there have been some very difficult days. And nights. Especially nights.'

Rilla smiled at her. "It's really not that bad, but I'll enjoy the chocolates. Our mothers managed."

After a long, hangovery day of enduring a droid crying and the horrible scent of fake droid vomit all over his pillow, newly-mohawked Topher took action.

That action was to stomp into the laundry room and fling his fake-vomit-stained Space Battles sheets and his droid baby onto the lid of a broken washer, then storm back out.

Quietly. Because ow.

Try not to laugh too hard, Annie.
