Student Group Holiday Mixer, Sixth Floor, Sunday Evening

It was time for the Pride/Sorority/Fraternity holiday party -- one last event before everyone scattered for Christmas break. The sixth floor looked pretty much amazing once most of the flat surfaces had been bedecked with lights, tinsel, and garland. The drinks and snacks table was off to one side, and laden with pretty much every kind of Christmas cookie known to man, while holiday songs played from the iPod that was acting as DJ for the day.

The Toys for Tots drop-off was at the entrance, so people could feel like they did a good deed before getting their mingle on.

"I get that." Well. Sort of. "I was on the phone with my relatives as soon as the dorm was back. And yay, dreidl!" And she started to sing the song.

"I shouldn't have said anything." Although the dreidel song combined with the antlers was vastly entertaining. "I have to admit, I didn't think I'd take being away from home so well. The time's kind of flown by."

"Seriously! I can't believe I've been here more than six months," Kenzi said, shaking her head, which made the lights blink more. "That's the longest I've *ever* lasted at school since I was ten."

"You and Topher make me feel bad that I've never gotten kicked out of a school before," Billy said. "I feel like I'm missing out on something."

"I wonder what it would take to get kicked out of here?" Kenzi wondered.

Bombings, Kenzi. Or killing a classmate. Even if they get better.

"I don't know, but I don't want to find out. And you'd better not either. Or Topher. I guess there's no maximum on number of times you can be punched before having to leave school," Billy said, snickering.

"Sadly true," Kenzi said, shaking her head. "Or Topher would already be over the limit, jeez."

"Do you ever wish you could snap your fingers and fix him? Or is that just me?" He would totally understand if it was just him, really.

"I wish I could snap my fingers and make it so he knows when he's gone too far," Kenzi conceded. "But the rest of it... naaah. Does that make me evil?" she wondered. "That I like that he's kinda clueless about some things?"

"No, probably not," Billy said, smiling softly after a moment. "It is kind of fun when he gives you that look like you're amazing because you know how to do something he doesn't, or understand something that he doesn't."

"Yeeeah, it is." Kenzi shot Billy a quick glance, then a grin. "He's a genius. And he knows it. But he appreciates smarts in other people. And niceness."

"I might not be as smart as he is, but I have niceness to spare," Billy said. "I think he needs that."
