The Roof, Saturday Morning

Using magic on the remaining bruises from the complete moron Phobos was the goal for the day. Ikol's advice on the matter had only been mildly helpful (mostly confusing) and so he was left to his own devices on it.

This would be so much more simple had his elder-self thought to keep his knowledge of magic perfectly intact. Ugh.

For now, he sat on the roof in just his normal clothing from Asgard, hood down as he focused. People here didn't seem to realize this was a remarkably mild winter. Barely even worthy of the name 'winter' at that.

Anakin had made a habit of climbing the Massassi temple on Yavin 4 when he'd been a student at the Jedi Academy.

Now that he was back at school, climbing the building seemed like a thing to do even if it wasn't the same thing, doing it by himself.

So he made it up to the roof, but not in the usual way -- a messy head of brown hair poked up over the edge of the roof just before Anakin hauled himself up over the edge and dropped down to sit.

"Oh, hi."

Loki peered over at him for a moment before deciding to comment. "Has no one told you of the existence of stairs?"

"Oh, I know about those," Anakin said, waving a hand. "But that's the easy way. This was more fun."

"And less suicidal," Loki replied dryly. "Are you that bored of this school already?"

Anakin rolled his eyes. "The building's not even that tall. This is easy."

But mortals were terribly squishy! Unless he was a superhero. Was he a superhero?

"Is that so?"

"Sure." Anakin shrugged. "I can slow my fall down enough not to hurt myself, if I fall."

He was a little overconfident.

"That, I would very much like to see." Because Loki was horrible.

"I said if," Anakin pointed out, rolling his eyes. "And I didn't fall, and I most likely won't, so don't hold your breath waiting for it either."

"Because you're so skilled?" Loki replied, amusement oozing from his voice.

He really shouldn't be saying this, but Anakin hated feeling patronized.

"Uh huh," he insisted instead, lifting his chin stubbornly.

"Prove it, oh agile one."

This couldn't end well for anyone.

Anakin narrowed his eyes in annoyance.

"Fine," he snapped, and got to his feet, standing on the very edge of the roof ledge.

And because he couldn't help showing off a little, he tossed off a little salute as he went into a backwards somersault off the rooftop.

"Hello," Anna said, blinking at him. Then she suggested, "There are stairs, you know."

"I'm aware," Anakin replied with a crooked smile that wasn't quite Solo-grin territory yet. "Just thought I'd see what it was like coming up the side, instead."

"...why?" Anna asked, still not quite getting it.

". . . for fun?" Anakin suggested. "Just for a change of pace?"

"Oh," Anna said. "I haven't been here long enough for the stairs to seem commonplace. But then, I just got here yesterday." She supposed she could understand, though. Just stepping onto her porch after more than fifty years trapped inside the house had been...amazing.

"So did I." Anakin tilted his head, then indicated Loki. "I saw him on the shuttle yesterday, but I didn't see you there."

"The shuttle?" Anna asked, not really being familiar with this usage. And wondering as to Anakin's attention span if he already needed a change of pace. "I didn't come with everyone else. And I wasn't expecting to come here at all."

"A bunch of us rode over in this wheeled vehicle thing that they call a shuttle." Anakin's quizzical expression hinted at how slow he thought the so-called shuttle was. It didn't even fly, come on.

He shifted, tucked his knees up against his chest, and asked curiously, "How'd you get here, then, if you weren't expecting to?"

"I fell through a portal," she told him, giving a little shrug. "Apparently it happens."

"I'm starting to realize that might be true of a lot of things around here," Anakin said, shaking his head like he didn't think it was entirely fair for things to be that random. Possibly because he didn't. "So you fell through a portal, and now you're a student. Welcome, then, I guess?"

"And you came on a shuttle, and now you're a student, so welcome to you, too," Anna said. "I'm Anna."

"Anakin," he said, and held a hand out. "Anakin Solo, and I don't know about you but getting used to this place is harder than I thought it'd be."
