Fourth Floor Common Room [Saturday afternoon]

The newbies had been on the island for an entire week! Rapunzel was pretty sure that at least some of them had to be feeling overwhelmed.

Besides, she hadn't had a chance to meet most of them!

But that was okay. Rapunzel had a solution to both of those problems! Baking. Lots and lots and lots of baking! Cookies, brownies, muffins, and cupcakes were already strewn over most of the flat surfaces in the common room.

And now? It was time for pie!

Rapunzel's tongue was caught lightly between her teeth as she caaaarefully worked to separate egg whites from their yolks.

Hopefully people would show up soon to either help bake, or help consume the results of all the baking. But either way, Rapunzel intended to take the opportunity to smile broadly and talk to them!

"Well it's the best chocolate pie I've ever made," Dorothy said with a smile. "So now it's the merinque?"

That wasn't something she was familiar with, sadly. "Maybe I should just watch you for this part."

"Oh, it's easy!" Rapunzel assured her. "But maybe I can start it, and when you feel like you get it, you can take over?"

"I think that's a good idea," Dorothy said with a nod. "May I ask where you're from originally, Rapunzel?"

She wanted to learn more about the other girl, she just was so nice.

Rapunzel hesitated for a moment. Questions about home always made her think of, well, home. "I don't really know what it's called," she admitted softly. "It's just... home,?"

"Well, I suppose it's as good a way to know it as any," Dorothy said. "They usually say things like 'home is where the heart is', in any case."

"Oh! That's a very nice phrase! I've never heard it before." Rapunzel grinned. "Home is where the heart is," she repeated to herself.

"And there's no place like home," Dorothy added. "But you can make a home anywhere, if you want to. I'm already starting to think of this school as a new home, as strange as it is."

"It is very nice," Rapunzel allowed. But mother wasn't here, so it could never really be home for Rapunzel.
