Fourth Floor Common Room [Saturday afternoon]

The newbies had been on the island for an entire week! Rapunzel was pretty sure that at least some of them had to be feeling overwhelmed.

Besides, she hadn't had a chance to meet most of them!

But that was okay. Rapunzel had a solution to both of those problems! Baking. Lots and lots and lots of baking! Cookies, brownies, muffins, and cupcakes were already strewn over most of the flat surfaces in the common room.

And now? It was time for pie!

Rapunzel's tongue was caught lightly between her teeth as she caaaarefully worked to separate egg whites from their yolks.

Hopefully people would show up soon to either help bake, or help consume the results of all the baking. But either way, Rapunzel intended to take the opportunity to smile broadly and talk to them!

One of these days, Warren would make it all the way to the roof before being distracted by something in the fourth floor common room.

Today was totally not one of those days.

"I smell baking," he announced, peering into the room, cautiously at first, and then breaking into a little grin.

Safe baking, even! Score!

Rapunzel spun around with a grin. "Do you?" she asked, trying to go for teasing, but not really managing it.

"I wonder why that is..."

Apparently it was harder to keep a straight face and not giggle when doing that than television had suggested.

"Well, yeah, unless my eyes are messed up right along with my nose," Warren chuckled, stepping into the room and looking at the way most of the room was filling up with baked goods. "You've been busy today, huh, Rapunzel?"

Hopefully Warren had managed to enjoy a few delicious and non-lethal treats before Karla showed up.

"We're going to bake a pie!"

You should have warned Rapunzel, Warren. You have only yourself to blame.

... Warren was going to run and sob somewhere just as soon as he had a moment where he could escape, now.

"Oh, yeah? What kind of pie?"

Though, in fairness, Rapunzel had managed to keep him more or less in check while they made the world's most chocolatey giant cookie, back when he was a little kid...

Kenzi had caught sight of Karla. And now had the fire extinguisher under her arm. "Ready for anything, bro."

Warren gave Kenzi a thankful look at that. Like... seriously thankful. If whatever Karla baked wound up full of fire extinguisher foam, he wouldn't have to eat it.

"I was contemplating just grabbing whatever comes out of that oven and making a break for the window with it," he admitted, quietly.

Karla had a good nose for scents. Most of them were psychic, but the smell of baked treats? They managed to call for her from several floors away. Hopefully whoever was baking wasn't done yet so that Karla could help, too, but just getting to sit back and enjoy freshly baked treats was a fabulous consolation prize.

"Kiss kiss?" she called, poking her head through the doorway to the fourth floor common room. "Who's cooking, what's baking, and can I help?"

No, Rapunzel. Just say no.

Poor Rapunzel. She didn't know any better!

"I am!" Rapunzel declared. Then she grinned. "And I think you are, too!"

"At least as long as you want to help me bake a pie..."

"I love pie!"

Sure, she'd never actually made one before, but she was a cookie and cupcake master. She was positive she could pick up the knack of pies without much effort, too!

"What kind of pie? Can I make suggestions?"

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

And now, with Karla committed to this mincemeat monstrosity, was a desperate time.

Which was why, after going to his room for a bit, Warren returned. Wearing a necktie. And just kind of stood around the oven. Casually. You know, waiting for pie, as you do.

Karla was bustling around the oven, whistling a cheery tune while cleaning up all the spilled flour and shattered eggs. Baking with Karla was always an adventure. A messy, messy adventure.

That whistle died when she turned around to see her boyfriend. Lounging. In a necktie.

"Unf."

"I don't know," Rapunzel said, pursing her lips thoughtfully. "I wanted to make something special for Warren, to show my appreciation..."

Karla gave Rapunzel a sweet smile. "Oh, really?" she said. "That's so sweet of you. Speaking of sweet..."

She picked up a jar of honey. "This reminds me of you."

And then she was tackling Rapunzel and pouring honey in her hair.

Kenzi was giving Karla sad, resigned look. And hanging onto the fire extinguisher. No reason.

"What?" Karla asked, catching Kenzi out of the corner of the eye. "What are you doing?"

Okay, the free food? Definitely one of the things Bobby had missed about Fandom. So was it any surprise that the smell of baking lured him up a floor?

"You're sharing, I hope?" he asked.

"Bobby!"

Yes, Karla had seen in him Visor-Boy's class (sorry, Scott, but she'd met a different version of you first) but there hadn't been a chance for a proper greeting. Not since Christmas which had been failsauce for me.

Which meant there was going to be a serious tackle-hug aimed his way. One liberally dusted with flour. And perhaps the odd egg or two.

Bobby was never one to turn down a good tacklehug, of course. "That's my name," he told Karla cheerfully. "Don't wear it out."

Rapunzel giggled. And then tried to look serious and severe.

"No. There isn't enough."

Really. That was her believable face.

First, there was a girl who was very tentatively sticking her head in the doorway of the common room. The last time she'd been in here, she'd found herself being yelled at by a rather scary looking student.

She wasn't one to back down from scary people, of course, which was why she'd come back. It was a relief that he was not there, though.

So then she confidently stepped into the room and gave a curtsy in her plain blue dress.

"Is there anything I can do to help?" she asked.

Rapunzel did not think of herself as scary looking. And her huge, welcoming grin probably helped somewhat with that.

"Hi! Do you want to help with the eating, the baking, or both?" Rapunzel wasn't picky herself.

Kenzi waved, cookies in mouth, then finally saying around a few crumbs, "C'mon and help eat these up."

Cookie smell! Kenzi just followed the cookie smell.

"Need help eating those?"
