This week was... interesting. Stacey usually dated around, sure, but she had no idea what was with her this week. Which wasn't to say it was bad. Just... not exactly typical.

There was American Idol on the TV, not that Stacey really liked it, but because it was really hard to think bad things when people were screeching all over the TV. Except for when she found herself thinking Ryan Seacrest was kind of cute. She was just going to have to remind herself how short he was and not stop.

"Maybe this time I buy you dinner?" he offered with a hopeful expression. "Or maybe dancing at the nightclub in town?"

"The dancing could be a lot of fun," she said thoughtfully. Maybe it was just her brain taking that fun places this week.

"How about this weekend?" Matt suggested. "Just make sure you bring some closed toed shoes."

Yes. He remembered their earlier conversation.

"Sure. Maybe Saturday?" she suggested. And it was probably a good thing that she wouldn't still be feeling like this then, not that she knew it.

You know, one had to wonder if Matt or Rebecca would notice the difference once the pollen subsided.

"I'd like that," Matt said with a smile of relief. "It's a date. This time I promise I won't let anything interrupt it."

"You better not," she said, half-teasing. "I don't think I'd be too happy if it did."

"Well the last think I want to do is make you unhappy," Matt said with a grin as he finally took a seat. Probably fairly close to Stacey.

No reason of course.

"So what are we watching, here?"

"American Idol," she said, inching closer. Also for no reason. "A lot of people who think they can sing and Steven Tyler being weird."

Let's all be glad she graduated eighth grade before the reality show craze, or she might know someone who tried out.

"I'm not sure there wasn't a time that Steven Tyler wasn't weird," Matt said stretching out his arm with a yawn. Which might just end up around Stacey if she wasn't too careful.

"Dear God. They let people that bad on TV?"

Psh, like Stacey was careful. She knew what your arm was doing, Matt, and she was maybe leaning in a little closer.

"I guess it's supposed to be entertainment," she said.

Well then if Stacey was doing that there was an awfully comfortable shoulder she could rest her head on if she was interested.

"I just feel sorry for those people. Can they not hear themselves?"

For Matt the bad singing was especially painful. Sometimes having enhanced hearing was a detriment.

"Not to mention the humiliation when they're on national TV."

That was a convenient shoulder, don't mind if she took advantage of it. Or the fact that she could rest her hand on his knee.

"But they get to be famous for the five minutes they're on." She wasn't sure if that was a plus or a minus, actually.

Between the scent of Stacey's hair and shampoo and the hand on his knee, Matt was becoming just a bit distracted.

"Well I guess five minutes is better than nothing," Matt admitted. "Even if they do sound horrible."

"It's fine until something better comes up." It wasn't really helping with the not thinking about things anymore, though.

"Speaking of which," Matt said leaning over to whisper in Stacey's ear. "I'm reasonably sure that my room is available at the moment."

"Maybe we can a signal on the door this time?" she asked, turning to look at him more.

"And I'll just bolt the door so she can't barge in," Matt half-joked as he offered her his hand.
