Second Floor Common Room, Wednesday Morning

Liara had discovered the television that morning. While it was depressingly backwards technology, it did provide mental stimulation. She hadn't had to search far to find a documentary on Earth archaeology that captured her attention, even if it did not seem to be mentioning anything about the Protheans (to her great disappointment).

But after an hour or two of being engaged by that, she was quickly beginning to grow hungry. And that meant... choices.

Choices she still hadn't fully mastered.

So anyone coming downstairs into the second floor common room this morning was going to be confronted with the sight of an asari poking her head into every possible cabinet, closet, and even nook in the room-- while someone on TV blathered on about excavating urns.

"How's that going?" she asked, tilting her head while she watched.

"You have many kinds of cereal flakes," she said earnestly, "But most do not seem to have much in the way of nutritional content."

"There's muesli in that cabinet there," Susan said with a nod to the cabinet.

Guess who often found the lack of nutritional anything annoying.

"Ah."

Liara rose up in order to get it, but... banged her head off the top of the cabinet she was in. "Er, thank you."

"And there's aspirin in that cabinet," Susan said helpfully.

"...Aspirin?" Liara asked, rubbing her scalp as she reached for the cabinet with the indicated muesli.

"It's a pain reliever, used to get rid of headaches," she explained.

"Ah, an analgesic," Liara said, and promptly rummaged around for that, because ow. "Sorry," she added. "I should have done this last week, but I didn't expect to still be here right now."

"I think that tends to happen fairly often here," said Susan. "Where did you expect to be?"

"Home," Liara said. She shrugged lightly. "But I suppose that is what most people say."

Pretty much. "I'm guessing that's nowhere near here."

Susan was astute enough to notice a distinct lack of blue people on Earth.

"I looked at a chart," Liara mused. "My home planet is not as far from the Sol system as it could be."

Don't mind Susan if she looked a bit confused. It didn't happen often.

"The Sol system?"

"Earth's solar system?" Liara prompted. "Sorry. I may be mistaken."

"Ah. No, you're correct. I'm not from here, either," she admitted.

And the lack of a turtle to ride through the universe on was bizarre.

"Oh," Liara said. She squinted at Susan for a moment, trying to parse it. "You're... from a human colony?" she said, "Or some kind of subspecies?"

...Technically Susan supposed she fit that last thing.

"A different world, not in this galaxy," Susan answered. "I'm human."

Mostly. In the ways that mattered.

Liara opened her mouth to argue that that was impossible - but thankfully her mouth made contact with her mind before it said so. "Oh, right," she said. "I've heard about that. The multiverse... alternate worlds... yet all mostly human."

"Mostly. Though there are a few other lookalike species thrown in. I think it's the universe's way of keeping us on our toes," said Susan.

"It is probably likely we have humans in my universe as well," Liara mused. "But I'm not sure which one of you they would resemble."
