Having a single now was nice, since it meant Minako didn't have to try being tidy around another person, but it got really lonely really fast.

Hence the fact she'd taken over the common room, making a HUGE bowl of punch and setting out chips, boxes of pop, and (store-bought) cookies before digging around in the closet to find the mats to hook up DDR on the meta for XBox.

"Sweet!" she cheered, as she held up the guitar for a different game. "You can be later. Gotta warm up before rocking out!"

Okay, so the weather on Fandom was slightly less bone-tinglingly cold than the mainland, but that was really all there was to be said for it. One thing it wasn't, for instance, was ideal weather for anyone to stand around in for prolonged periods of time.

Which was why the Powers That Be had decided it was the exact ideal time to have a fire drill. Loud noise rang through the dorms at exactly 2 AM; good morning, students.

Hope you had time to snag a coat.

It was both rather exciting and rather nerve-wracking at the same time to be the one in the lobby today. Yeul set up the sign and the ballot box for homecoming court (though she remained vaguely puzzled about the purpose of such a court) and prepared to be around for the day, except when she had to leave for a period that afternoon to attend Wild Roving.

Despite her nerves (what if she messed up somehow?) Yeul figured that, all things being the same, she should probably not be concerned and that it was all right if she just relaxed.

Yeul eyed the glitter on her hands with rueful amusement. It would probably be all over her hair and clothes by the end of the day. Ah well.

After classes had ended, Liara had returned to the library to pick up more books. This time, her search for a quiet space to read them in had led her up all the stairs to the roof - because surely last time when she'd been here and a dozen humans had gathered had had to have been some kind of fluke?

She couldn't recall reading anything about humans benefiting from great heights, nor would their instincts incorporate such an element. They hailed from the plains, and...

...well, she had other things to read about.

She sat down cross-legged on the ground and put the book on portals in her lap, and got down to reading.

Realizing that you'd been a recluse the last half of a week was great motivation to making sure that never happened again. Jim was the type of guy who surrounded himself with people for both entertainment and so he wouldn't have to think too hard about his own life. Who knew what he'd find down that path when left to his own devices.

As soon as he'd woken up and gotten himself together, he'd headed out. He hadn't gone far, just down to the deck but it was a nice day, crisp and fresh, and the chairs looked comfortable. He'd dropped down in one, kicked his feet up and slid his dark sunglasses over his eyes.

After a few seconds of sitting in silence, Jim started to get bored. But, he was comfortable which made the thought of getting up and finding something else to do a little daunting. His phone was within reach, at least. Maybe he'd just send random messages to random people to see what that did.

At the very least, it'd make him laugh.

It was raining.

It was not raining very hard, but it was definitely raining at the insane time the sirens went off across the school. The lawn outside was slowly but surely turning into a wet mess, and the grass was just high enough in some places that it might leave wet splotches on an unsuspecting passer-by's pants.

Clearly this was a great time for a fire drill.

It was clearly also a great time to test the new volume on the sirens, which blared even harder than they had ever done before. Hope you didn't have to take any tests in the morning, kids!

Fall was coming, Karolina could feel it. She wasn't sure how she felt about it, the whole idea of fall on the east coast, though she supposed she was going to take it as it came. No use fighting the seasons.

Still, she'd taken her glorious breakfast of a Pop-Tart up on the roof this morning, sitting on the ledge and looking out over the town. The day was mostly cloudy, but even with just a little sun coming through every once in a while, she was happy enough. Recharging.

And after hesitating and fidgeting a while, she even took off her bracelet. There was no one else on the roof. She could let her true colors show – if that's what they were, the shimmery yellow and pink and blue. She wasn't sure yet.

But it did still feel nice to be out in the open air.

There was a blue girl sitting in the third floor common room looking absolutely enraptured by the television. She was currently supporting her chin on her hands, her elbows resting on her knees. By her side laid an encyclopedia and another archaeology book... completely untouched.

She was watching BIGGER FISH: a History of the Whale in Human Art Through the Millenia.

It was fascinating.

Liara was not a terribly big fan of crowded, open spaces, but it was a lovely day out, and the dorm lawn saw a lot of traffic but not a great deal of humans hanging around for any significant amount of time.

She had finally gotten around to trading in some of her credits for local human money (though she had no idea how the bank had found any kind of exchange rate worth mentioning) which she had used to purchase some clothes - she couldn't go around wearing the same clothes all the time. It simply wasn't practical.

Not to say that human fashion seemed entirely practical, but she quite liked the dress, even if it came up far shorter than she was used to. She tugged on the skirt periodically as she sat on a chair on the deck, a book on human archaeology in her lap.

Liara had discovered the television that morning. While it was depressingly backwards technology, it did provide mental stimulation. She hadn't had to search far to find a documentary on Earth archaeology that captured her attention, even if it did not seem to be mentioning anything about the Protheans (to her great disappointment).

But after an hour or two of being engaged by that, she was quickly beginning to grow hungry. And that meant... choices.

Choices she still hadn't fully mastered.

So anyone coming downstairs into the second floor common room this morning was going to be confronted with the sight of an asari poking her head into every possible cabinet, closet, and even nook in the room-- while someone on TV blathered on about excavating urns.

Natalie had deemed it too hot to go outside if she didn't have to, today. So, why she'd chosen to spend a chunk of her morning by the stove, which was known for its heat-generating capabilities, was anyone's guess. Sometimes cravings were counterproductive, maybe, or maybe she was just contrary by nature.

In any case, the end result was a hearty stack of pancakes on a plate on the kitchen counter. Natalie herself was curled up on the sofa, balancing her Economics II textbook in her lap while eating some pancakes with maple syrup and ice cream. Having lost the first four days of the term, she had a little bit of catching up to do to get back on schedule with her independent classes. She had considered getting in touch with the teachers whose actual classes she'd missed but, knowing how rare homework was at this school, had decided against it. It could wait.

The textbooks could be all for this week. Textbooks and pancakes.
