Second Floor Common Room, Saturday Evening

Okay, so Sparkle had attempted to detach the velcro-cat several times on Thursday, to no avail. And on Friday, he'd been kind of flattered that the little black blob of clingy kitten had stuck around, but kind of concerned all the same. It wasn't as though he knew how to take care of a pet, after all. He'd fed it a can of tuna, gave it some water, and took it outside to do its business a few times, because it wasn't like he owned a litterbox or anything.

When Velcro was still around this morning, he'd relented. Even used some of the money he'd been saving from working at Demon Marcus to get cat supplies that morning, because... well, if it was going to stick around, it was probably a good idea to keep it from crapping in his laundry pile or something.

The thing was, Velcro didn't seem to like the crunchy cat-kibble things that Sparkle had bought. A bit of a piss-off, since he didn't have all that much money in the first place, but hey, that was what common room food was for, at least until he could wean the little guy off of people-food. A rummage through the cupboards, at least, yielded some canned food that the kitten did seem to like.

"Hah! Cats do too eat ham!"

Why did Fandom let Sparkle keep the cat, again?

[OOC: Open common room is open, and all Sparkle threads will be fuelled by the power of chocolate-covered espresso beans. Fear.]

"I thought cats ate tuna," Richie said as he walked in. "Maybe sardines. Anchovies. Not ham."

"You named your cat Velcro?" That was different. Of course, Richie had just called the animals that showed up the other day Kitty and Puppy without differentiating. So what did he know.

"I have never put a cat in water on purpose. Or by accident. Why would you do that? They're all pointy."

Olive and Ally -- she'd finally named the little thing, after the wee beagle had stuck around -- had just been out for a walk and were trudging their way back up to the fourth floor when they passed Sparkle and Velcro.

"Yours stuck, too?" she asked, leaning in the doorway with the leash in her hand and Ally winding her way around Olive's leg.

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
"I am," Olive said, smiling a little. "This is Ally. Did you name your clingy little friend yet?"

She would enjoy this kitten's name, yes.

Common room, people... puppy and kitten. Huh.

"I hope this isn't gonna become a trend," Toby decided. "Otherwise the small fluffy things will soon outnumber the people on the island."

[identity profile] godgavemecable.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
"That we are mature, responsible people who can totally be trusted with small animals?" Toby guessed. Or at the very least that last one.

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
"I think we're just lucky," Olive noted helpfully, waving. "Most of 'em departed, but...mine stayed, and so did Sparkle's."

[identity profile] godgavemecable.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"I wonder why," Toby mused. "Were you like, particularly in need of a pet or something?"

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
"Aren't we all?" Olive asked. "I miss my dog at home, though, so maybe that's why? I have no idea. But this is Ally, she's apparently living with me and Karolina now."

Kenzi had not become attached to any kitties or puppies on Thursday. She'd fed them, she'd played with them, then she'd shoo'd them out of her room.

"How cuuuuuuute."

Didn't mean she didn't like them, though.

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
"So that sound, that's just the motor behind his shredding buzz-saw teeth warming up, is it?" Kenzi asked, holding out a finger for Velcro to investigate. "I am intimidated to my toes. Really."

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
"This is Ally," Olive said, as the wee beagle immediately yanked on her leash to hurry over to Kenzi and sniff at her. "She apparently is fascinated by your shoes, sorry."

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Kenzi's eyes widened in momentary alarm, then she crouched down, holding out a hand that probably smelled of Velcro to Ally. "She's adorbs! Seriously! But no, shoes are bad for puppies, bad, bad. How about popcorn, maybe?"

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Ally was totally distracted by the cat-smelling hand, thankfully. Oh, puppy attention spans. "Popcorn's technically probably worse, because she'd actually swallow it," Olive mused. "But believe me, if she were the shoe-eating kind, I'd have discovered it already. She's just...you know, a puppy. Let's smell everything, et cetera."

[identity profile] godgavemecable.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
"No little friends for you?" Toby checked, amused.

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Kenzi smirked at him, and stretched out a toe to poke at his foot. "Hey, you. Nope. Although now I'm really, really tempted. As long as the pet would get its own room."

[identity profile] godgavemecable.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
"Pretty sure that's not how it works," Toby snickered. "Especially with a cat. Because basically then they're deigning to let you stay in their room."
