The Deck | Sunday Afternoon

Realizing that you'd been a recluse the last half of a week was great motivation to making sure that never happened again. Jim was the type of guy who surrounded himself with people for both entertainment and so he wouldn't have to think too hard about his own life. Who knew what he'd find down that path when left to his own devices.

As soon as he'd woken up and gotten himself together, he'd headed out. He hadn't gone far, just down to the deck but it was a nice day, crisp and fresh, and the chairs looked comfortable. He'd dropped down in one, kicked his feet up and slid his dark sunglasses over his eyes.

After a few seconds of sitting in silence, Jim started to get bored. But, he was comfortable which made the thought of getting up and finding something else to do a little daunting. His phone was within reach, at least. Maybe he'd just send random messages to random people to see what that did.

At the very least, it'd make him laugh.

[Deck is open to everyone and anyone]

With the weather slowly getting colder, Karolina was resolving to spend as much time outside as she possible could. Today, that involved finally checking out the deck.

But then when she realized it was already occupied, she hesitated a bit, thinking he might want to be left alone. "Um, hi?
solarhippie: ([pos] Yes I am pretty cute.)

[personal profile] solarhippie 2012-09-16 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Karolina chuckled a little, and decided it was probably okay to come on the deck, yes. She even went so far as to plop herself down on one of the chairs. "I don't know, they keep saying Fandom is weird," she said. "That could be par for the course."
solarhippie: ([pos] Open and unpretentious.)

[personal profile] solarhippie 2012-09-16 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Karolina shrugged, jokingly apologetic. "I'm not sure I would?"

But she was the type to sometimes mutter to herself anyway.
solarhippie: ([pos] Free spirit.)

[personal profile] solarhippie 2012-09-16 05:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Karolina could barely have an argument with other people, let alone herself. So she looked kind of wryly amused by that. "I don't think I'd have to argue with myself," she said. "You know, just... sometimes mutter a word or two. Like when you get a little absent-minded?"

Liara had been dragging her books all around the island all week, and this was no exception. With a copy of The Wonders of the Multiverse in her hand, she ducked out onto the deck where she found, to her immediate flustered consternation, that someone else had beaten her there.

"Er. Hello," she said.
fewer_explosions: (neutral: considering you)

[personal profile] fewer_explosions 2012-09-16 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I am sorry," Liara said, looking genuinely contrite. "I did not mean to offend you, I was just surprised!"
fewer_explosions: (neg: ...whoops)

[personal profile] fewer_explosions 2012-09-16 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"Oh." Liara deflated. "A human thing."

She rubbed the back of her neck. "I had hoped to find some time to read," she said. "Not that I am unhappy with your presence!"

Reassurance or not, she felt like she needed to make this clear.

Olive had been walking Ally when she got the text, and made a point to stop by the deck, puppy's leash in hand, to see whether it was true.

"You can't just text me lies, James," she scolded, already tying off Ally's leash to the side of the deck. "And tell me you're sunbathing in the nude. I mean, people will believe you."

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
"I was coming to see if it was true and then bring you pants!"

...mostly.

"Also, I was already out," she sniffed primly. "So it was easy to come by. No special effort exerted."

She still would have exerted effort to see him naked, yes. Look, she had eyes.

[identity profile] dirtiest-skank.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
"Maybe I do! I grew up with brothers, you know."

She did not have guys' pants.

"I'd at least bring you a blanket."

[identity profile] makemyownway.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Cade held up his comlink. "You lied, man," he said. "I don't see any dancing girls on the lawn. I'll cry myself to sleep."

[identity profile] makemyownway.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Cade snickered. "The breasts disappeared when I woke up on Monday. I don't miss them too much--I like 'em better on real girls."

[identity profile] makemyownway.livejournal.com 2012-09-16 06:09 pm (UTC)(link)
"They would," Cade said, sitting down and linking his fingers together behind his head. "Who do we complain to about that?"
