First Floor Lobby -- Thursday All Day (Except During 3rd Period)

It was both rather exciting and rather nerve-wracking at the same time to be the one in the lobby today. Yeul set up the sign and the ballot box for homecoming court (though she remained vaguely puzzled about the purpose of such a court) and prepared to be around for the day, except when she had to leave for a period that afternoon to attend Wild Roving.

Despite her nerves (what if she messed up somehow?) Yeul figured that, all things being the same, she should probably not be concerned and that it was all right if she just relaxed.

Yeul eyed the glitter on her hands with rueful amusement. It would probably be all over her hair and clothes by the end of the day. Ah well.

"Tickets are ~~handwavy~~. Just the one ticket, right?" Yeul watched Liara for a moment. "Did you hear about the field trip for next weekend?"

"Just the one ticket," Liara agreed, and took an inordinate amount of time to find the petty change required.

Perhaps she should get a job.

"I... did."

Yeul was patient and made no comment about the change. She did not want to make Liara uncomfortable.

"Have you thought about going?" she asked curiously. "I have signed up."

"I already told Commander Alenko I would," Liara said, staring at her fingers. "I know I cannot stay there, but perhaps there's something about the portals..."

"Perhaps there will be," Yeul said softly, with a nod. "If you would like, I will help you look. We could share a room so that others are not disturbed by the search, if it takes longer than they might wish to be awake."

"I would appreciate that," Liara said, nodding. "Perhaps you will see things I might overlook."

"I will try," Yeul promised. "And if you wish for space to be alone, simply tell me. I will not mind if you do."

"Thank you," she said honestly, rubbing the back of her neck. "You are very accommodating - you really do not need to be, I promise. I will not chase you out of your own room."

Yeul shrugged, smiling slightly. "I find many things simpler, if I am accommodating," she admitted. "Whatever happens will happen."

So if Liara changed her mind, during the trip, that would equally not bother Yeul.

"Perhaps," Liara said dubiously, but (at this point in her life) she did not intend to rock the boat by arguing about it. "We can also look around the Citadel together. It is supposed to be very impressive."

"Do you know much about it?" Yeul asked. "The whole trip sounds rather fascinating to me, but it is not my universe."

"I have heard many stories about it, but I haven't been since I was a child," Liara admitted. "My mother used to go there frequently, but she has been distracted by affairs on Thessia for some time."

"Is it far from your home?" She wondered if that was a silly question. "I suppose it must be, if they're on different planets."

Liara blinked. "Oh, the Citadel is not on a planet," she said. "It is a space station in orbit around a star named Widow."

She blinked back. "Around a star?” That seemed so strange to her. “Is that not dangerous?” She considered that. “Though I suppose it might not be any more dangerous than Cocoon was.”

It had floated above Pulse. That sounded similar.

Liara looked briefly amused. "Most planets orbit around stars," she said. "This one simply happens to have been built, and built into an unorthodox shape."

"It seems odd to me," she said, smiling a bit ruefully. "My home is not particularly space-inclined and things a very different there."

"It will be an experience worth having, then," Liara said, smiling back. "Seeing it will do much more than me telling you about it."

"I will just have to practice being patient then," Yeul said, looking amused. "I suppose I can handle that."

She was very good at being patient.
