Between one thing and another, Kate had never actually watched a live episode of the TV show Bow Arrow.  But she had downloaded all the previous episodes and watched them on her laptop.  Just for professional curiosity, you know.  Someone was making a TV show about a superhero with a bow!  It was almost required she watch.

...and he was really, really hot in the training montages that showed up in almost every episode.  Yeah, she totally watched this for the plot.

Topher wandered in with not one but two laptops, intending to get some food, then paused and tilted his head at the TV. "Whoa, who's the weird-looking guy?"

"Which one?" Kate checked. Look, there were plenty of options here.

He pointed. "The shirtless one. With the weird curvy stick thing."

Seriously? Thaaat was a bow, Topher.

You really should've just said 'shirtless one,' Topher. Or possibly "the one with the abs."

"...the one with the bow?" she replied. "That's Ollie. He likes to dress up like Robin Hood." (Pot, kettle.)

"Ridiculous," Topher pronounced. "Real LARPers need fancier pants. And wouldn't Robin Hood need fox ears?"

"That is some serious manflesh," Bay said, and tilted her head to get a better look at the screen. It wasn't that she had never seen a shirtless guy before, but that guy...

It made a girl pause.

"Right?" Kate asked. "Clearly we should appreciate it."

"It's like ... balancing out all the centuries of female objectification," Bay nodded. "What show is this, anyhow?"

"We should get at least a few more years of half-naked hot guys first," she said lightly. "Bow. About a guy who wears green eyeshadow and fights crime."

"Does he wear tights, or just the eyeshadow?" Bay asked. "... not that I see how either one helps you beat up bad guys."

"Girl-roommate is here!" Topher announced, turning to Bay. "Question. Which is better, leather or spandex? I'm talking pants-wise."

What.

"Leather," Bay said, then blinked. "Wait, why are you asking me that? Please don't tell me you're going for an extreme makeover thing."

"And," she added, "it's Bay. Like a large body of water, remember?"

"Ocean, got it," Topher said, but he was teasing. For now. Tomorrow, he might actually call her that for real. Who knew? "Kate and I were discussing movement potential. And also attractiveness. I voted spandex, but it was twenty-percent a loyalty thing." Whatever that meant.

"Ocean would be an okay name." No, Bay, it would not. "I have no idea about movement potential, but leather looks way better."

Spandex struck her as a weird thing to be loyal to; she cocked an inquisitive eyebrow at Topher, willing him to explain it so she didn't have to ask.

Mercy was wondering by and happened to catch a glimpse of a shirtless man with incredible abs doing this thing where he chinned himself up on bars higher and higher. What the heck did you call that anyway?

In any case, it was enough to make her stop and stare for a moment.

"What is this?"

"It's about a guy who fights crime while wearing green eyeshadow," Kate elaborated. "And has really great training montages."

Why didn't real life have training montages ever like that?

"He can wear all the eyeshadow he wants," Mercy said, "As long as I can look at his abs."

"His arms are pretty nice too," she agreed. Cause, you know, archer.

The sound of the television drew Billy into the common room, and he looked back and forth between the television and Kate before laughing. "Of course you're into this show," he teased.

Kate grinned at him. "Shut up."

"I'm not saying it's bad," Billy said, head tilted at the TV. "He's awfully hot."

"I did not know that people who aren't-" her gesture managed to encompass Bucky Barnes and Clint Barton (It was a well-trained gesture) "- actually looked like that," she said. "But I'm totally okay with it. And the training montages."

"Billyyyy," Topher whined, patting the space on the couch next to him. "Kate's mean and won't let us watch a fish documentary and this guy's costume is bad."

"Topheeer, he's got nice arms and fish don't," Billy pointed out as he sat down. "Why do you want to watch a documentary?"

...Fair point, Billy.

"Because fish are awesomer than this guy's pants," Topher replied promptly. "Also, I like your arms better."
