Fifth floor common room [early afternoon]

Rilla and Jims, dressed in their Easter best, had returned from church on the mainland and were now in the common room. They (well, Rilla. Jims was only so helpful) unloaded an enormous hamper of food that Susan had sent from Ingleside. Despite Rilla being at school for three years, nothing could convince Susan that Yankees knew the first thing about cooking.

So there were hot cross buns and pies and cakes and cookies while Rilla was starting on some eggs and tea and Jims was trying to fit himself into the now-empty hamper.

Have some Easter brunch, everyone! Rilla promises not to check to see if you attended a service.

"Ummm...who puts tracking devices in flour? And who looks for tracking devices on a Sex Ed class, anyway?" asked Emily as she squinted at Jessica.

"A girl from a world with crazy super-science," Jessica pointed out. "I'm just saying, if I were teaching a class and wanted to make sure my baby substitutes weren't just sitting in a drawer, I'm at least putting a pedometer or something in them. Something to make sure they were moving around."

"You know, I really want to hear more about this crazy super-science, specially if there's a way for me to invest on it," said Emily, because hey, why not? It sure beat investing on cattle or stock or whatever, since it actually sounded interesting.

"And for the record, I would've left the baby flour under my bed."

"Trust me, it's a losing proposition. About half of the companies who get into the game end up resorting to creating illegal genetically altered superbeings just to pay the bills, and that gets them into trouble. Another quarter just make the illegal genetic blah blah blah because they're evil," Jessica said. "The only way to really make money and stay on the right side of the law is to work with the government, and they have guys who can design and build flying aircraft carriers."

"Whoa whoa, wait a minute. You lost me t illegal genetically altered superbeings," Emily said as she raised a hand. Well, what had she been expecting?

"So you're telling me everyone but the Government is evil on that business?"
