The Pool, Friday Evening
Isabelle wasn't a big swimmer. It wasn't that she didn't know how or anything (because she did), but just that there it wasn't a very important skill for most Shadowhunters to have, and there wasn't a pool at the Institute. Also, covering up her Marks and scars with glamours to go to a public swimming pool was far too much of a hassle.
And one she hadn't bothered with here. It was Friday evening, and she figured most people had better things to do than go for a swim. She could've thought of a few, but somehow swimming had still won out. Maybe she was saving her ideas for the weekend. Or something else like that. (Or maybe she just liked the calm stillness of it all. Maybe she wanted that right now.) Fact of the matter was that she was here, in a deep red swimsuit that left most of the dark runes and the light scars on her skin exposed. Not that anyone was going to get to look at them for very long.
She dove in and got started on swimming laps, her hair alternating between floating in the water behind her and clinging to her shoulders.

"Well that looks fun."

"I didn't think so at first," she said, pushing wet hair back from her face, "but yes."

"I was bored."
It was the best reason to do anything ever.

That came with a slightly condescending look, free of charge!
"But maybe this was a safer option than going on the mainland to hunt."

Well, these days. What with the Mortal Cup being missing and all.

"Your younger self seemed like she wanted to stab me."

"Well, you were being an uppity Downworlder."
He'd called her adorable.

"So, uppity and a liar."

Because that'd be such a hardship for Isabelle to put up with.
no subject
Yeah, not so much.

"Well it's nice to be warned, lest my heartbeat get out of control or something."

"I'll spare you the Pocahontas swan dive," he decided after a moment. He just ended up placing a hand on the edge of the pool and slid in gracefully.

Someone needed to shove some Disney movies at the poor girl.
"But now I don't get to retaliate for any splashing."

And that was by suddenly splashing a not insignificant amount of water at him.

"Okay, I should have seen that coming."

"Yes, but full of boosted blood. It gets me as high as I need to go."

Because they were nice like that.

She pushed away from the edge of the pool-

"I was seven, and I hit you with a sword. Imagine what I'd do with one now that I'm seventeen."

Okay, it had been a really cute sword.
