Third floor common room [Too karking early for a Sunday, Cade]

Cade had gone for a nice long run around the island and was now working industriously in the common room kitchen making green juice (heavy on the kale, naturally) and nice hot bowls of gruel oatmeal.

Breakfast was the most important meal of the day, you know!

Anyone hungry?

Will pulled a face because...that did not sound like an inviting combination at all.

"And that tastes...good?" Because yeah.

"Mostly like apple," Cade said. "Spicy apples."

Even though it totally sounded like what would happen when Karla cooked.

"Where'd you even learn to make something like this?" Will had to ask. He was comforted with the fact that it apparently didn't taste horrible though. "Experimentation?"

Cade nodded. "I opened the fridge one morning and there was only stuff that was green inside."

Because Fandom.

"So I experimented. Don't put green peppers in. Just...ew."

"I dunno, I might just go the old fashioned route and try and dig up some cereal," Will said because while he didn't think Cade was lying, that green drink still looked suspect. "Get my nutrients from artificially flavored and sugar coated sweets."

"I've got some oatmeal cooking too, if you want," Cade said. "You can add things that aren't green to it."

"How long have you been awake?" Will asked. He'd been up early but he felt downright lazy compared to this guy.

"Couple hours," Cade said. "I feel like if you're sleeping through the sun, you're kinda missing out, you know?"

"That's admirable," Will replied with a shrug. "Most people I know don't think that way. They like to sleep in especially on a weekend when there's really nothing to do."

"That's their choice, but my dad's always been an early riser and I guess it passed on to me," Cade said.

"Do you go to bed early too?" Will wondered, curious.

Cade laughed. "Nah, I don't really need a lot of sleep. There's just too much to do, you know?"

"You're a rare breed, I bet," Will remarked, crossing his arms. "I'm Will, by the way. I'm on the second floor."

"Nice to meet you, Will," Cade said. "I'm Cade--from just down the hall. When'd you get here? And apparently 'just this week' is a completely normal reply these days."

"I've been here a little longer than that," he said, raising an eyebrow at Cade's comment. He'd ask about that in a second. "Still pretty new but I didn't get here this week. Was there another picnic that I missed?"

"Nah, just people changing personalities or something," Cade said. "I've been here for years but people are really surprised by my behavior. I don't really get it."

"Changing personalities?" Celia's behavior several days ago popped into his head and he wondered if that was related to what Cade was saying. "Huh. Well, if it helps, since this is the first time I've met you, you're acting perfectly normal for me."

"Thanks," Cade said. "Apparently people expect me to be this raging asshole."

"Well, those type of people have their place," Will said, remembering Todd, "but you don't seem like an asshole to me. I mean, you could be hiding it really well but I don't think so."

And he wasn't about to try and get inside Cade's head just to see. He wasn't an asshole either.

"Thanks, man," Cade said, grinning. "That's one of the nicest things people have said to me in a week."
