Friday night. A night when people were social and went out and did things. Or, if you were Jessica, you might take a break from all of your research to watch something mindless on TV. Well, if this wasn't mindless, it certainly was insane.

It was some old movie called Edison and Chimp, featuring Jack Klugman as Thomas Edison and Tony Randall voicing the chimp as they solved crimes.

Seriously, no idea. Jessica wasn't going to ask, she was just going to enjoy the antics of the chimp. Because that guy was hilarious regardless of how much Tony Randall ooked. So she was going to settle down, she was going to eat some popcorn, and she was going to not look at her tablet during the movie. Nice and easy.

.... Okay, she was going to look at her tablet. But besides that!

"You're right," Barry agreed. "It's a fucking double cross. Edison is going to kill the Tesla-Chimp to cover up his tracks."

"That's the most reasonable thing you've said all night," Jessica said. "But it's still just Edison and Chimp fanfiction."

"I'm sorry! Have you seen this movie before?" Barry asked. "Any minute now Kevin Spacey is going to show up with Alexander Graham Bell's head in a box."

"I'm starting to think you're not taking this period chimp movie seriously," Jessica suggested.

"Fine. It's fanfiction," Barry sighed. "Until I change the character names and get the book published. Oprah still has a book club, right?"

"I'm not actually sure. I've managed to avoid any and all Oprah news since she left her show," Jessica said. "But I'm going to assume it's a yes."

"Yep. This is definitely a best-seller idea," Barry replied. "I'm thinking the movie rights will go immediately. I'm thinking of Christian Bane as Edison and Ed Norton as the Chimp/Tesla to keep the movie grounded."

"Is he going to have to do a weird chimp voice?" Jessica checkd.

"He's Ed fucking Norton," Barry said rolling his eyes. "He's totally a method actor. He's going to spend at least six months living with detective chimps before filming."

"Oh, it's fucking happening," Barry replied seriously. "It's on like fucking donkey kong."

He took another swig of his drink.

"I'm Barry by the way."

"I know. I'm your TA in Try Not to Die," Jessica said. "I'm Jessica, in case you didn't catch it what with the trying not to die."

"I didn't pay attention to that part because of the trying not to die part," Barry agreed. "Then again it was less dying and more running around an alien world."

Though the food eating roadblock came close to being lethal.

"It's okay, no hard feelings," Jessica said. "I'm not the one sending anyone around strange planets, so I know the deal. You remember Skywalker's name, I'm sure."

"Yes. I have two Skywalker's this summer session," Barry replied. "With a name like that I'm assuming they're related?"

"I think Anakin is Ben's grandfather or something like that, but the timelines are all mixed up, so you'd never guess it," Jessica said.
