Second Floor Common Room, Weds Afternoon/Evening
Kathy hoped no one on this floor would mind that she was taking over their common room, but she was starting to feel guilty about making the delivery people hike all the way up to the fifth floor with her orders. Fandom takeout tended to err on the excessive side, even for someone with as enhanced a metabolism as Kathy had developed. Camping on the second floor made her feel better for ordering so much as well as making it more likely that she'd find help eating it.
Tonight she'd gone for pizza. It just seemed fitting for an Adolescent Coyote marathon. Apparently the next season was starting soon and the gifs of the show flooding her dash made it look pretty neat, so she'd decided she'd check out the first few seasons and see if she liked it.
Not far into the first episode, she was discovering the show featured snark, bad CGI, and a pretty cast apparently allergic to shirts (except for the snarky best friend, apparently). She still wasn't sure about the actual quality of the show, but there were worse ways to spend an evening.

Habit and all. He was still getting used to short sleeves and showing off scars and tattoos that no one else tended to see. Remembering his manners (or something), Nathan nodded at Kathy but didn't make eye contact.
That was still a deeply ingrained thing with him. "Evening," he said, finding his voice.

She figured that was the most important thing. Introductions and things could wait, there was food to be offered.

For him, this was a ton of pizza so he didn't know.

Unfamiliar and foreign but nice.
"I'm not used to being around so much food that I don't have to cook myself," he explained. "I don't eat a lot. But, it smells good. And looks good and I haven't had dinner so I should eat something before I go out."

She nudged a box in his direction slightly and gave him a smile. "Hi, I'm Kathy by the way. Kathy Li. Nice to meet you."

Unless it was a gluten allergy. And then the whole room was practically weaponized against him. But he'd said he'd tried pizza before, so Kathy wasn't gonna push the issue.
"From a world with very different cuisines?" she asked.
no subject
"But, we didn't have money for things like this. We ate mostly soups and stews from homegrown vegetables and cheap meat. My stomach got used to that sort of thing."
no subject
Kathy liked feeding people.

"Oh, so many!" she said excitedly. "Bean salads and noodle salads and potato salads and..." She broke off, realizing she was babbling. "We absolutely need to meet up next picnic so I can show you a few new things to try."

He still knew he had to get off this island at some point but when he wasn't able to, he figured he could make some tentative plans. "New things, huh?"
no subject
And guess who was more than happy to follow his nose to the smell of pizza, while he was at it?
"Oh! Hey! Decided to bounce down a few floors today for your grub, Mouse?" Sparkle was grinning as he flopped down onto the sofa. "Hungry much?"

Yes. Yes, that was a crooked sort of smile, right there.

Kathy did. She'd watched. The other ones had been good, buy many of them lacked Sparkle's innate flair.

"You're just pattin' my ass, now," he accused with a laugh, barely getting the pizza out of the way before some sort of horrible pizza incident could occur. "But, yeah, I made the cut. So, I guess I'll be spending the rest of the summer off this crazy fucking island, after all."
The hug, for the record, was going to be a tight and squeezy sort, for good measure.
"... Thanks," he muttered quietly in the middle of it, so that only she could hear, "for coming along to the audition. I would've pissed myself or something if you weren't there to keep me from freaking out."
no subject
"But you're wrong," she said, pulling away to look up at him with shining eyes. "You would have been just fine without me. I am happy that you didn't have to be, though."
no subject
He gave her a solid pat on the back with his non-pizza hand, and then leaned back to grin at her.
"And how about you? Wow me with something, Mouse. Make shit up if you need to."
It could be about that coyote-man's glistening abs if she was really at a loss. Sparkle was so watching the TV for a moment over her shoulder, there.

"Umm, well, I've been out to Baltimore twice," she confided, grabbing a bottle of ginger beer as she sat back down. "And while I was out there...I took your advice. No more tumblr tag names for me."

Honest.
"Good job, by the way. That is a way better name. Where'd you get it?"
As if he didn't know.
no subject
Heh. Spoilsport.
no subject
Okay, now he was finally going to get some of that pizza into his face.
"So, fighting the good fight and all of that?"
no subject
Trapper Keeper indeed.
"Mostly muggers and stuff like that. Crimes of opportunity and stuff. Going out tonight in fact."
no subject
He was honest, at least.
"You're way better suited for it."
Especially with the new name.

Speaking from experience leaning either way.
"So I'll be here laughing when you come back in like a drowned rat with nothing to show, Mouse."

... Sparkle's theories might or might not actually reflect reality.
no subject
"I gave him cookies once. He totally likes me best."
Again with the possibility of this not reflecting reality.
no subject
See? Sparkle had this all figured out!
Lucky Flick?
