stacyexperiment: (you're serious?)

Fourth floor common room- Thursday evening

Gwen figured that as a treat for surviving most of her first week here (literally and figuratively), she'd just use a little bit of the spending money she'd been given before coming here to order a pizza, because she didn't feel like trying to cook.

When the delivery guy showed up with several she'd figured they were for deliveries elsewhere, but then there was a conversation including sentences such as "I only ordered one. One small," and "I'm not paying for all these," and "How do you even make money?"

Long story short, Gwen had a bunch of pizzas and she was only one girl so someone was going to have to help her with these.

[Possibly a little slow till after work but whatever, open CR!]

Rapunzel grinned at her, a little relieved that she didn't have to broach the question of whether the pizza was all Gwen's. (Maybe she was stockpiling for winter! Rapunzel didn't know how pizza worked!)

"Thank you," she said gratefully, scampering over to grab some after tugging her hair in so none of it was out in the hallway, at least. "Are you new? I'm just guessing 'cause I haven't seen you before, but I also might be totally rude and unobservant, too, if you're not new."

She would feel really bad, if that was the case.

"Only not-new because of your batch of new people," she said with a nod and a bright smile. "Rapunzel, and this is Pascal," she added, gesturing to the chameleon on her shoulder, who also waved. "I've been here a whole...summer. Already. Wow, that went really fast. But anyway, hi."

"He doesn't like the P-word," Rapunzel said, rolling her eyes. "It's apparently kind of demeaning. But yeah, he's not my roommate. Isn't that weird, how that's a thing that happens here? Or did you not know that that's a thing? Because it is. People turning into animals, I mean."

"I think her wings are real," Rapunzel offered thoughtfully, tilting her head. "If you mean Alana. I've had classes with her. They're like, always on."

And she didn't see why they wouldn't be real, considering. She'd seen stranger things.

"Right?" Rapunzel agreed, eyes wide. "You'd have to cut holes in everything. It's a shame."

She paused, reflective, and added, "But I think I'd be okay with cutting holes in my dresses if I got to fly." Not that Alana could, but she didn't know that.

"I wonder if they get cold," Rapunzel said, not at all in disbelief that she was seriously thinking about this. "Or if they fold, like a bird's wings. Like if they do, maybe you could just wear stuff over them. It'd make it hard to fly, though, if you needed to."

"You think?" Rapunzel looked thoughtful. "I dunno, people ask me stuff about my hair all the time and I never feel like they're being rude, just like...you know, it's something they've never seen before. I mean, it'd probably depend on the question and how you asked, too."

"There's something to be said for the not-invasive approach," Rapunzel admitted. "I always appreciate the people who don't ask. I mean, in a place where Pascal could actually be my transformed roommate, it's kind of nice to have people just get used to seeing the thing that makes you feel weird, even if I personally don't mind answering questions about it."

She was still kind of getting used to that, at all, even after a whole summer.

"Have you ever met anyone else with seventy feet of hair?" Rapunzel asked, raising her eyebrows. "'Cause I haven't. I'm not even normal at home, so."

She shrugged happily, flouncing onto a couch with her pizza. "So where're you from, anyway?" Look at that segue. Like a pro.

"Corona," she said cheerfully. "I know some people from New York! Is it really as big and loud as everyone says?"

She was personally super-intimidated by the idea of cities that big, but that didn't mean they weren't really neat, still.

"And you're from this time, right? If not, you're adapting really well," Rapunzel said encouragingly.

"Good crazy or bad crazy or just expect-the-unexpected crazy, like here?" Rapunzel checked.
