Third Floor Common Room [Sunday morning]

Tobias was up early--it was selfish to lay in bed and wait for others to serve you--and was in the common room working on breakfast.

Toast, oatmeal, fresh fruit: nothing fancy because Abnegation didn't believe in fancy, but cooked correctly and served with an open heart because his faction lived to serve.

...even if he wasn't sure why all of the lights and electricity worked all the time around here. It was extravagent!

[OOC: Back from my mini-vacation. Come plaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay.]

"Like nothing," Rapunzel said, kind of making a face. "Or kinda like bread? But like nothing how bread tastes like nothing. Sometimes at home I put raisins in it, though, and that's really yummy."

"I like bread!" It was one of the few things he'd been given to eat at home. "That doesn't look like bread but I like bread!"

"This is like bread if bread was wet," Rapunzel decided. "Least it is when my mother makes it. I dunno if this'll be like that or different."

Different was good, sometimes!

"Did your mum teach you how to make it?" he wondered curiously.

"Nope," Rapunzel admitted. "I'm not 'lowed to cook by myself yet, but Tobias said I could help today! But I've watched Mother make stuff a lot." There wasn't all that much else going on in her life, to be fair. Rapunzel had to make her own fun.

"My mum never cooked." He sighed. "My grandmother did sometimes but I didn't get to watch much. Too small."

"I don't have a grandmother," Rapunzel told him thoughtfully. "Is yours nice?"

[identity profile] halfbad.livejournal.com 2014-11-23 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
"Guess so." He shrugged. "She's okay. She's old."

Very astute.

"Grandmothers are always old," Rapunzel decided. "S'a requ -- requira -- rule."

That was a much easier word to attempt.

"But, they had to be not old once, right?" Nathan asked, curious. "Like you and me?"

[identity profile] likes-ducklings.livejournal.com 2014-11-23 04:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah," Rapunzel said carefully, thinking about it. "That's how it works with most people."

Not all people, mind you.

Nathan made a face. "I don't wanna be that old! Their faces look like wrinkled rugs!"
