Fifth Floor Common Room: Friday Evening

A tripod with a video camera had been set up in the common room and it was currently pointed at the kitchen area. Dipper was also sitting in front of the camera holding up a cardboard sign (Formerly a pizza box) which read "Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained - Episode 2"

"Hi everyone!" Dipper said to the camera. "Today on the guide to the unexplained: How all this food in the common room magically appears. I'm going to stay here in this common room until I get to the bottom of this."

He paused for a moment to consider what he just said.

"Except for bathroom breaks."

"And I guess classes and showering."

Dipper could feel the commitment to this mystery wavering.

Lottie came into the common room looking for snacks and entertainment. And what did you know? She seemed to have found them both!

"Aww, are you making another moose movie?" she asked Dipper as she opened a bag of cheetos. "Tres exciting!"

"No moose!" Dipper said quickly. "Nope. Hopefully not. Not unless the moose stocks all the common rooms with food."

"Maybe it does," Lottie mused. "If it's on the school staff. I always assumed that was who bought all the snacks."

You know, like a mom. Only . . . schooly.

"Well can a moose even get up the stairs and through the door?" Dipper asked with a frown. "Plus how does it open the cabinets and the refrigerator without thumbs?"

"With its big pretty moose-lips!" Lottie said. "I suppose you could check the handles for tooth marks."

Forgive Dipper as he shudders at the words "moose-lips". He did however go over to start inspecting the handles on the fridge and cabinets. "I'm not seeing anything though. Unless the doors magically open somehow."

"I'm pretty sure we've both seen stranger things."

"Well I know I have," Dipper agreed with a shrug. "After all we had disappearing chairs in class. Maybe there's a code word."

He threw his arms open and shouted "Open sesame!"

Nothing happened.

"Please?"

Nope. Nothing.

"Ooo! Try clappin' twice decisively."

Because clearly the cabinets operated on a clapper.

Dipper shrugged and clapped twice decisively as well. And stomped his feet. And snapped his fingers.

"I think we can rule out a moose doing this," Dipper ventured.

"Maybe it's the squirrels. Providing fodder for news reportin!"

"Well, they do have the ability to write and grasp things," Dipper mused.

"You want a mystery to solve, you should investigate them. Where do they learn to write? Is there a tiny squirrel school on the island?"

"Oh, are you shooting a film?" Ringo asked when she noticed the camera.  Her eyes widened and she did a little hop-skip to get out of the shot.  "Oh!  I didn'tmean to ruin it!"

"Nope!" Dipper said with a shake of his head. "Surveillance. I'm trying to figure out how the common rooms get stocked with food."

Ringo blinked. "Huh. I never thought about it before. Or who cleans the bathrooms, for that matter?" But they were clean...

"Well there's that troll who hangs around and dances occasionally," Dipper said thoughtfully. "Though I've never seen him in the bathroom."

"There is? I don't think I've seen any trolls." Which was weird. You'd think you'd notice a troll.

"Hangs out by the Janitor closet," Dipper said with a nod. "I plan on doing a guide thing on him too."

"A guide? Is that what the stake-out is for?"

"Yep!" Dipper said trying to puff up his chest a little. "Dipper's Guide to the Unexplained! Where I try to get to the bottom of all the weird stuff around here. I used to do it back on a public TV station when I was 12 one summer."

Ringo smiled at that. "Well, it seems like you'll have a ton of material here," she decided with a giggle. "There's a lot of weird stuff, after all."

"No kidding," Dipper replied. "Hey, when you have a class with magical chairs, it's a never ending font of material."

"Magical chairs?" Wait. "There are classes with chairs?" That made sense, really, but none of Ringo's classes had any.

"This one did. It's that Bob's guy magic class. It was like musical chairs but they tended to move and one would disappear into thin air for every round."
