Fourth Floor Common Room, Tuesday Morning
Cassandra clomped into the common room still wearing her full armor: she had just done her rounds of the island, and then engaged in some sparring at the salle. Soon, she would retreat to her room to take off the armor and perhaps begin taking her daily notes, but for the moment, she felt she had earned a moment to sit.
And so it was that a heavily armored butt hit the sofa. She sighed, took off her helmet, and pulled her ponytail free from where it had been wedged against the lower plates.
She set the helmet down on the table. Then she glanced furtively into the hallway, ensuring no one was there before she produced a thin volume from somewhere between the plates. There were hearts on the cover. And swooning.
Shh. She didn't want Gwen to make fun of her again.

Entering the common room to find someone in full plate... well, there were weirder things.
"Good morning", Laura said, nodding as she moved to serve herself some water. She didn't seem to notice the book, or mind it at all.

New student? Apparently so.

Like, totally offering that, knight-lady.

Cassandra was just terribly stupid.

"A portion of the time," she said. "The Seekers of Truth exist to police the workings of the Chantry, a... I suppose one could call it the church, in this world, if that makes any sense to you personally. There is one arm of the Chantry that deals with guarding the mages. We frequently deal with them."

"Has it been difficult to adapt?"

"What are Qunari?" They sounded annoying.

"Good morning," she greeted with some reserve.

"I am Laura," she added as she filled her glass again. "Nice to meet you." Just going through the paces.
no subject
"I am Lucille," she replied.

"You are one of the new students too", Laura said, a statement more than a question. "Have you had classes yet?"
no subject
"I am," she confirmed, making no effort to be polite herself. "And I had a class yesterday. What about yourself?"
no subject
"Me too", she said. "What do you think of the island? I am still trying to make up my mind about it." Laura had the suspicion they came from radically different places, time periods, whatever, but they were similar in the sense they were still new. There had to be some similarities there.

"And are you from another world?"
no subject
"Everyone here is from another world." But she realized the question was a bit more specific after finishing the sentence. "My world is relatively similar, at least in the time period. Yours?"
no subject
"I am from 1885," she said. "And so it is difficult from me to judge if this is another world or just the future."

And she was sniffing at the tea, from where she was standing. What kind that was? It smelled nice.
