2nd Floor Common Room, Saturday Morning

Let's not go into detail about Lucille's reaction when she had woken up this morning. Let's just say she had been wondering at first whether this was a particularly strange nightmare. Waking up in a male body, and also discovering that she looked exactly like her brother, only about the same age as herself, had been, to say the least, disturbing.

Sha had managed to keep quiet, because she was good at that.

Then she discovered that she had nothing to wear, as her dresses didn't fit her (him? She was going to be confused about pronouns today), and the only thing that was wearable was a long dressing gown. She considered staying in her room, but eventually she got hungry, so she quietly snaked into the common room, hoping to be able to grab some breakfast before anyone noticing.

"Like my sister." Was that better. "Similar coloring."

Stout of hip and generous of chest. As was only expected.

That was the kind of evasive answer that Lucille expected from him. "I see." She had no idea what Dwarven women were supposed to look like.

"What did you do?"

[dwarvenswagger]

"My roommate was generous to share some of her clothing." As... interesting as it all was. So much bedazzling. "So that I was able to purchase some of my own."

Luckily it looks like Mara is going to help Lucille get some clothes.

"You were quite lucky then. My dresses... don't fit." She would also find it even worse to look like her brother and wear dresses.

[dwarvenswagger]

Well, Thorin couldn't really offer his to the giangantor there.

"Yes. That would hold true," he said, trying not to picture her dressed as an elf in their usual frippery.

Lucille might not like elven fashion either.

She sighed and poured herself a cup of tea. "I thought I had become used to this place."

[dwarvenswagger]

GOOD. BECAUSE IT WAS AWFUL.

"I find this land continues to find ways to surprise us," he said with a resigned sigh.

[crimson_sister]

"Oh." Lucille suddenly remembered something. "My harpsichord lesson."

It would be awkward.

[dwarvenswagger]

...wait, what?

"You play a harp?"

[crimson_sister]

"A harpsichord," Lucille corrected. "It is similar to a piano."

[dwarvenswagger]

Well thank god for that. Otherwise this would have just gotten weird.

"Ah," Thorin replied like he was well aware of pianos. He was not.

[crimson_sister]

"Do you play the harp?" Lucille asked. It would be a good change of topic, and although she doubted Thorin found music interesting, she could at least ask.

[dwarvenswagger]

"I did. Prior to coming here." Badass Dwarven warrior who played the harp. Aw yeah.

"Perhaps you should find a harp. Music is such a wonderful thing." This was one of the few truly sincere and well-meant things that Lucille had said to Thorin.

[dwarvenswagger]

It was. Which made Thorin both confused and moderately suspicious. "Perhaps. I have found the music of men to be interesting."

He liked Queen and that was about it.

[crimson_sister]

A very understandable reaction. "Dr Lecter assures me that some music from this time is worth listening to, but I have yet to find it," she replied. "But you can find sheet music in the library."

She added, wrinkling her nose: "Did you know that some students here enjoy singing popular songs badly to recorded music? I believe it is called 'karaoke'."

Talking about music was at least something familiar, even if it meant talking about it with Thorin.

Excuse you, he was amazing.

"My people enjoy singing, but not... the caterwauling they are fond of here."

[crimson_sister]

"At least we agree on something." Even Lucille found that funny.

[dwarvenswagger]

This would only end in a terrible duet come the next strange day, no doubt about it.

"It was bound to happen eventually."

[crimson_sister]

"Really?"

There would be no duets. And if there would be duets, Lucille would do her best to forget. There were certain limits, after all.

[dwarvenswagger]

"We could hardly argue over everything." They probably could, actually.

[crimson_sister]

"I don't see why."

They could probably argue over whether they could argue over everything.

[dwarvenswagger]

"Why we might not argue?"

[crimson_sister]

"Yes."

Sorry Thorin, her good mood could only last so long.
