5th Floor Common Room, Tuesday Afternoon
It was really windy outside. Windy enough that it had tempted Ringo into an extra long morning AirTrek session. There was nothing quite like launching yourself ten meters above the rooftops and just letting the wind snatch you up and drag you along. She'd only come back to the dorms because she was hungry.
It didn't take her long to make way too much fried rice, and then she stretched out on the couch, plate of rice in her lap, and started playing some new AT videos her sister had sent on the TV. There were some amazing shots of Tokyo's skyline throughout, and some really sweet tricks in there as whoever the video was of (not anyone she recognized from the old days) bounced from building to building.
Huh. Come to think of it, how did anyone even shoot this video? Another rider wouldn't be stable enough to get such a good shot, but the camera was definitely in motion. Not a helicopter, either, not in those tight spaces. Ringo chewed thoughtfully at her rice and stared at the screen with a frown. For the moment, at least, only half her attention was on the really sweet AT tricks on-screen as part of her brain was furiously trying to figure out the technical aspects of filming them.

"Oh, h'llo, Ringo," she said. "What're you watching?"

Ringo looked over at Ada and grinned. "Ada! Hey!" She glanced back at the TV. "Watching some videos from back home of AirTreck tricks. But I can't for the life of me figure out how they filmed this thing." Because when someone was bouncing off the concrete wall of a skyscraper to land on the roof of another only to leap off into a twenty story drop, well, how did you film that?
She shrugged. "I could probably figure it out later, though, if you want to grab some rice and watch something else."

It looked like the person was going pretty fast, though, and Ada wasn't sure if one of those could go.

Then she glanced back at the screen. "Drone things?" Back at Ada. "What drone things?"

"Y'know, like, little flyin' robots," she said, around a mouthful of rice. "You control 'em with your phone or a computer, and they shoot video or take pictures from way up high. Used 'ta be just for militaries, but now they make plenty that regular folks can buy."
They'd had to erect her mama's tent early a few times, when Townie kids thought using their shiny toys to spy on the carnies would be funny.

She glanced over at Ada, grinning at the big bowl. Now she just hoped it didn't taste too bad. Ringo stuffed some rice in her mouth, swallowed it, and glanced over again.
"So how's it going? Been up to anything fun?"

"I didn't even know that kind of thing could happen. Did you, um?" Um. You know?
Because Ringo had gotten lucky and dodged that particular bullet. It was still weird, but she imagined it was even weirder for people who'd had to live it.

Ringo's face screwed up slightly. "How did you deal with it?" she asked curiously. Then, as if realizing something, quickly added: "Um, not that you have to talk about it if you don't want to! Maybe just forgetting the whole thing is better."

"Actually, that sounds like a pretty practical way to deal with things." Ringo grinned. "I'll have to keep that one in mind." In case there were a next time.
"I don't suppose you have any left? I mean, for dessert." After the rice.

With Dante's help, but still.
"But I bet we got stuff for baking in here somewhere," she mused, looking over towards the cupboards. "I can do cookies just as good as the next person."

It involved the oven, Ada. The oven!
