1st floor garage- Wednesday evening

While doing some exploring, Rey had come across the garage. She didn't know how long it'd been since this place was really in use, but she'd definitely never heard of anyone being here as long as she'd been around.

Apparently this was going to be her night. She'd gone through pieces and parts that she had found, just to see what was there, and then she'd found an old speeder bike covered with a cloth that she didn't think had an owner? So now she had to test it to see what kind of shape it was in, naturally.

[Hey, this place exists! Open!]

Mayday was checking out the first floor of the dorms tonight. The rec room was pretty great, and she was already acquainted with the gym. So apparently it was time to see what was in the other corner of the building.

"Huh. I wasn't expecting a garage," Mayday said. Because what purpose did that serve in a place without cars? It was right after that she noticed she wasn't alone. "Oh. Hi. Sorry," she said. "I hope I'm not interrupting."

"What did you find there?" Mayday checked, walking over. "Is that... a motorcycle without wheels?"

"Wait, so it's like a hoverbike?" Mayday asked. Yes, she was from a world where Iron Man made flying suits of armor a thing twenty years ago, but a hoverbike was a hoverbike. "Do you know how to work it?"

"I guess it's pretty obvious," Mayday said. "I'm Mayday. In my world, if anyone's going to have something like that, it's going to be a technology-based superhero or something."

"Not too many. At least not these days," Mayday said. "They're more of a trend of the last generation of superheroes for some reason."

"I'm getting the impression that most places don't have them," Mayday said. "It's kind of weird to find out that you're less normal than you thought just because you came from someplace that's apparently pretty different."

"You've got me beat," Mayday said after a moment's consideration. "Of course, we're on an island in space, so I probably shouldn't be too surprised."

"New York," Mayday said. "It's just a few hours from here. Maryland. Not space."

"Ha! I guess that would be the best way to describe it," Mayday said. "I promise that not everyone is a cop or a lawyer, though."

"I mean, my dad's a police scientist, and he's good friends with several lawyers. But still."

"Nobody knows," Mayday said. "It's just one of those things."

[identity profile] notcancelled.livejournal.com 2016-05-12 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
"That's more accurate," Mayday said. "The murder rate is way lower in small towns like this, though, no matter what other TV shows might tell you." Murder She Committed, Probably.

"Inaccurate for a bunch of reasons," Mayday said. "Unless there's a world out there where it's not."

[identity profile] notcancelled.livejournal.com 2016-05-12 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah, probably," Mayday said. "And that probably means that there really is a New York filled with nothing but cops and lawyers and the occasional architect looking for love."

"It's about 10 percent of romantic comedies, probably one new sitcom each year," Mayday said. "Odds are they end up with an event planner or TV producer who need to loosen up a little."

"Most of them aren't," Mayday said. "But the ones that are, they're pretty great."

She even loved the bad ones, though. She couldn't help it.
