Third Floor Common Room - Wednesday Afternoon

After spending the last week stuck as a giant pending message icon, Negasonic didn't feel much like staying in her room. She settled for just wandering down the hallway and flopping on one of the couches instead.

Granted it was just like... five doors away from her room but at least it was a different setting.

For a late lunch, she poured herself a box of Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs and started flipping channels around on TV to find something to watch.

Roscoe grinned. "Can you believe they call it a hoverboard? Like it's some cool futuristic thing. It wishes." And yet he still rode it around the dorms, because he secretly loved it despite its lameness. Shh. "I'm pretty sure segways are actually cooler."

"That's impressive," Tip said. "Since the only people who used segways were the ones who didn't want to walk on walking tours."

She was feeling rather snarky today, yes.

"You know, when J.Lo comes to visit, I bet he could make it actually hover. That's what he did to our car. But -- he might accidentally reverse all the controls."

"No shit?" Roscoe beamed. "That'd be cool. Reversing the controls wouldn't be so bad. I'd just, like, have to lean forwards instead of backwards. I could get used to that." He might fall off a few times in the process of adjusting, but that wasn't necessarily a bad thing. "This is bound to be way easier to mess with than a car."

"Assuming he can get parts that small," Tip said, starting to notice the holes in the plan much too late. "Though, you know, he is the president of New Boovworld, so maybe he can just order people to make him some."

"Huh," Roscoe said, pondering that. "Maybe, I guess. Would that be kind of a sweatshop situation? He sounds like a good dude, so probably not, right?"
intotheout: (huh)

"I don't actually know," Tip admitted. "We've never really talked much about Boov economy. They've only just stopped going around conquering planets for new resources, though, so . . . maybe?"

"Ehhh." He scrunched his face up. "I guess if I don't know about it it's not that big a deal. It would be kind of awesome to fly. Does that make me terrible?"

"I think it probably just makes you a person." Of course, Tip had just declared that 'people suck' in her class, earlier. "I won't judge you. I was the one who suggested it in the first place, after all."

"Cool." Alien colonization was definitely a trickier concept than his normal everyday concerns, but he figured Tip knew best. "I do kinda wanna meet J.Lo, anyway. When's he visiting?"

"Parents' Weekend," Tip said. "He keeps asking me to make 'absolutely for positive' that he's allowed to come even though he isn't my parent."

"Oh, shit. I forgot about Parents' Weekend." Roscoe grimaced. "That's gonna be a whole thing knowing my parents. Maybe I can just not say anything about it."

"Worth a shot," Tip said. "But they might bring you more fancy presents if they show up, right?"

"I guess," Roscoe admitted, "but they'd probably get at each other's throats and make a whole scene. It's usually better not to have the two of them in one place in public." He didn't know how they did it when they ran into each other for work. Then he remembered, "But maybe my dad won't be able to make it anyway, I guess. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just Mom."

"Which one of them would you actually want to see?" Tip asked. "Maybe you can only tell one of them it's even happening."

"My dad," he sighed, "but knowing him he'd tell her, even if I told him not to. He'd want to rub it in her face."

He scowled. "I'll figure it out. What about you? It's just your mom, right?"

"Mom and J.Lo," Tip confirmed. "And Lincoln and Pig, but they're a dog and a cat and probably not going to get brought along."

Please. Like Lincoln was going to let them leave him behind on another adventure?

"You have a cat named Pig?" Roscoe smiled. "Nice." He wasn't really a fuzzy animal person - fish were cool to look at, but dogs and cats didn't do much for him - but he liked them in theory. When they weren't climbing on him. "Yeah, I they'd hate taking a portal. Even I hate it and I'm a human being who at least understands what's going on."

"Mom named her," Tip said. "She's pretty cool, I guess."

She saved the world, so she was more than pretty cool. But Tip was still playing that close to the chest.

"I think portals are kind of neat, actually. Way nicer than sitting in a space-car for a whole day with nothing to look at out the windows except more space."
