2nd Floor Common Room, Friday Evening

It had been a good day, with the library books being quiet and the cooking class being enjoyable as usual. Would Dr Lecter ever come up with something she didn't find interesting? Well, the eating of people wasn't to her taste, but besides that?

Making the evening as pleasant as the day had been, Lucille had braved the television and managed to find a channel broadcasting a performance of La Bohème, and with a pot of tea and sandwiches she settled in on the couch to watch.

[Common room is open. Lucille will hate you if you turn off the opera.]

"Yes. I mean. Maybe. Maybe I'll find a better planet." He would not. He would end up in vaulthunting bullshit.

"It seems easier to murder you roommate." She took a sip of her tea, knowing that this would be taken as a joke. She would, however, consider it if it wasn't for the fact that she didn't want to be sent back to the asylum.

Well, he did come from the Borderlands franchise.

"I don't want to kill him. I just want him to go away. Forever. And never return." Which featured the benefits of the murder without the messy murder part.

"It can be done with subtle means," Lucille said, ignoring his objection, because, as the narrative above stated, murder was clearly the solution to his problem.

Rhys gave her a look that implied deep suspicion that this would come back to bite him in the ass. "No murder. Blackmail, sure. Corporate espionage, who hasn't? Arson... that was one time and I deserved that promotion. But no murder. Unless it's in self defense."

HE HAD HIS STANDARDS.

Lucille wrinkled her nose. "I object to arson. I don't want my book collection to smell of smoke later, and your roommate might survive. As for the others, how are they going to help?"

It was clear that she didn't think highly of his ideas.

"Well, not here. I was talking about real life. My old life," he said with a sigh, like he was thinking back on better days of screwing someone over for a promotion.

"How is not here going to help you with your roommate?" Lucille asked, thinking this was a valid question.

"It doesn't," Rhys replied slowly. "Because it's a different topic."

"Oh? When did the topic change?" Lucille asked, faking a sweet voice.

"It's okay if you can't keep up with the big dogs." Rhys, never say that again. Jesus Christ.

Lucille just raised an eyebrow, looking completely unimpressed.

Aaaaand Rhys just looked smug. Undeservingly smug.

Lucille took another sip of her tea, giving Rhys a condescending look over the rim of the cup.

He was doubling down on the smugness. Doubling down!

He worked for Hyperion, you'd have to do better than that. Maybe start a kitten fight club.

Now, that was just silly. Lucille put the cup down. "How is finding that cupboard going?"

"I already found it, thanks," Rhys replied with a sniff, turning to go find something to drink in the fridge.

"I'm glad to hear that."

It was quite obvious that she didn't care.

"Great!" Rhys shot back, pouring himself a glass of milk. Now that he was, ugh, a growing boy again.

Lucille increased the volume on the tv, as this was one of her favourite arias, and she wouldn't let an annoying boy ruin it for her.
