4th Floor Common Room, Wednesday
Uma had been sent flowers. Yeah, she'd gotten them hours ago, but she still didn't know why she'd gotten them. Or what to do with them. This was the first time she'd seen real flowers, never mind had any of her own.
Flowers needed...water, right? Yeah, that sounded good. She was just going to bang around the common room, looking for a cup or something big enough to hold her...stripey, purple flowers (what kind of flowers were they? Not-roses was the only guess she had) and hope that they didn't die while she looked for something appropriate to put them in.
How fast did flowers die, exactly? Why didn't school teach this kind of stuff?!

"Took the king hostage, fought a pitched battle on the docks with his rescuers, escaped my island prison, swam several miles to shore, hid out for a few hours, and then did some magic I'd never tried before, ensorcelled the same king, leaped off a boat, fought a dragon, and then swam away."
She'd also transformed into a half-girl, half-kraken hybrid like her mother before her, but again, she wasn't really ready to talk about that.
"I tried to make it back to my crew on the island, but I fell asleep clinging to some driftwood."

He tried to imagine someone trying to take his own father hostage, and he had to admit, the thought amused him and put a faint smile on his face. If anyone had managed to pull it off, he'd be more impressed than anything else.

Uma shrugged. "Trying to get off the Isle, of course," she said. "Well, trying to get his girlfriend to trade us Fairy Godmother's wand in exchange for Ben. That wand is the only thing powerful enough to take down the barrier and free everyone."
That's all anybody wanted on the Isle: freedom.
