Fourth Floor Common Room; Tuesday Morning [12/18].
There was a large red Zora prince sleeping on the couch of the fourth floor common room that morning, because a large red Zora prince's sleeping tank was still full of hot chocolate by the time he was ready for bed. And the couch in the common room seemed a marginally better choice than simply sleeping on the floor.
That margin, it turned out, had been very thin, indeed. But the dull ache of unconventional furniture and the desire to just sit under showers in the bathrooms for a better part of the day wasn't the only thing that eventually brought Sidon out of his not-very-restful slumber. There was also the trio of gremlins standing not too far off to the side, belting out rather loudly and growlingly, something he assumed to be some sort of holiday song.
They were passionate about it, too, Sidon had to admire that, as well as the fact that they seemed far more interested in singing at the moment than attempting to bite him. As well as the last one had managed to turn out for him in the end, he rather appreciated waking up quite himself, although not exactly in the usual place, instead of thinking himself entirely different.
He sat up from the couch, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, and applauding politely as the gremlins seemed to finish their song, getting ready to fend them off if their attentions now turned to chomping. But he relaxed easily as they launched into another one, although now he faced the problem of the fact that it would be terribly rude to get up in the middle of their performance, and so he remained, sitting awkwardly, sleepily, uncomfortably, a tolerating smile plastered on his face as he listened and planned how to execute his escape once they finished with this one.

"Tea?"

And though Sidon was not particularly a fan of tea, sleeping on a dry couch had left him rather parched for any kind of liquid, and he would hate to seem rude, besides. "Yes, thank you," he said, nodding with a faint smile. "Tea would be lovely, how kind of you to offer, Breq! I trust your morning has been going well?"
no subject
She poured two cups.
"I take it you didn't want to sleep in your tank last night."
no subject
"And your observation is right on point," he told her, chuckling faintly, "no surprise there! I'm afraid the couch seemed the lesser of two great discomforts when I discovered it still filled with hot chocolate by the time I needed to turn in. I suspect it is quite back to normal now, though, or at least I would certainly hope so!"
no subject
"Have you ever been bitten by one?" she asked, nodding towards the gremlins, from which she kept a bit of distance.
no subject
"I have," he told her after taking that first sip, "and it was a thoroughly interesting experience, though one I am not in any rush to experience again any time soon. I was quite under the impression that I was some sort of aquatic princess, quite convinced that Prompto was my One True LoveTM and that we were to be married....but he was able to get a rather striking photograph of a gremlin in action, though, so I suppose it was a small sacrifice to make for a temporary bit of discomfort and...awkwardness."
Not to mention the other fallouts from the whole event, but it seemed a bit indiscreet to mention those.
"What about yourself, Breq?" he asked. "Have you been fortunate enough to avoid that particular experience, or is this something you can commiserate on from an equally knowledgeable perspective?"
no subject
That didn't sound too different from his usual self.
"It could have been worse, couldn't it? Prompto isn't mean, is he?"
She was teasing him, just a little bit.

Sidon grinned a little. "He was the perfect paragon of a gentleman," he was pleased to report, feeling he truly couldn't emphasize that enough, "so you're quite right, it could have been far worse than it would have been. He did a spectacular job of keeping me out of the trouble and mischief I'm afraid to say I was quite determined to get myself into, and for that, I'd say I owe him quite the debt of gratitude!"

You brought up the subject, Sidon.

"Thankfully not much," Sidon laughed, "due to Prompto's excellent foresight in ensuring that I made it to the deck of the dorms, despite my desire to go exploring around the island, where we would have doubtless encountered any number of people who would surely be rather confused by my current state of mind. You see, I was under the impression that I had just broken a curse of sorts, wherein I'd exchanged my voice for a pair of legs...instead of the tail that I suppose I normally would have, much like a fish, but a person on the top! Can you even imagine such a thing? But, as it was, that's who I believed myself to be. So having now a pair of legs and also having regained my lost voice thanks to a kiss from my One True LoveTM--that being, of course, in this case, our dear friend Prompto--I was quite eager to use both! My more level-headed and less-gremlin bit beloved, however, had a much clearer view of the situation, and knew well enough that having me scamper all around town was not a wise idea!"

"They're just interested in singing today, I think."

Perhaps not so docile on their eardrums, true, but better their eardrums assaulted than their ankles!
