Second floor common room, Sunday afternoon/evening

Lana got back from the library and went into the common room to get some tea.

And stopped.

There were a number of pizzas on the tables around the room, still hot, with nobody around them. By the time she'd made her tea and found something to watch on the television (some documentary about spying during World War II), there was still nobody there, so she shrugged and took a piece.

Apparently tonight was a pizza night?

[Open common room!]

Those were definitely priorities Astrid could appreciate, since she was likely to use them a little herself, so she grinned a little as she shrugged. "Alright, I guess," she said, which was more of an honest answer than she had expected to give, though still not exactly the truth. "Did you have a good break?"
seriesofbaddecisions: (hmm)

Sabine shrugged a little. "Pretty boring, but I got a lot done. How was yours?"

"Pretty boring," Astrid offered. "But I didn't get hardly anything done. "The contraband Christmas was appreciated, and it even sparked a small debate on whether or not I should have tried to sneak over some snow, too."

Well, now you had her thinking. "It'd probably get caught by security, but I'm sure there's ways..."
white_oleander: (the thinker)

"A really good cooler and a lot of dry ice," Astrid suggested. "Though I wouldn't bother. The general consensus was along the lines of, 'screw that; we live in California for a reason.'"

Which was...a little ironic, considering hardly any of them were there at the home because they wanted to be...
seriesofbaddecisions: (okay so)

"Mostly what I know of it is that it has beaches," Sabine admitted.
white_oleander: (california girl)

"Beautiful beaches," Astrid enthused a little with a distant smile. "And lot of them, though I like the ones in Mexico a little better. And it's a big state, so there's a good variety, but where I'm from? I'm pretty sure most native Los Angelens are allergic to snow."

But not Astrid, of course. Her and her fierce Nordic Viking blood.

"Snow's not so bad," said Sabine, who was no stranger to it. "Less chance of snow monsters without it..."
white_oleander: (curious)

[personal profile] white_oleander 2019-01-07 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
So, about that whole not having really talked to anyone since she got back thing...

"Are you listing that as a positive or a negative aspect of snow?"

seriesofbaddecisions: (or...)

"Hmm. Snow monsters are a negative, but it at least gave me something to do," she said, after considering it.
white_oleander: (exsqueze you?)

It was amazing, really, how only two weeks back in the "normal" world (and even that was pretty subjective) could make a person forget that being here was sometimes like feeling you were suddenly on Mars.

Astrid's brows lifted. "What, you mean, like, fighting them? Outrunning them?....Chasing them?"

It took all kinds around here, really, that much she couldn't exactly forget.
seriesofbaddecisions: (please don't drag me into this)

"Fighting them, and then defeating them through dance," Sabine said.

And sighed, shaking her head.
white_oleander: (curious)

Forget Mars. This was out there on Pluto.

"You know that last part's going to need a little more clarification, right?" Astrid asked, just in case Sabine didn't know. "How does dancing defeat snow monsters?"
seriesofbaddecisions: (like it is)

"I'm not actually sure but we were way better at it," she said, confident in that.
