Shuri was still fully grown and while she wasn't Wayne and didn't have his skill with pancake making, she could toast the heck out of a frozen waffle.

Come on down, small children who shouldn't be left unsupervised near the stove! Auntie Shuri will let you put on allllll the maple syrup.

Speaking of pancake-making skills and maple syrup...

There was suddenly a small blonde boy in a plaid shirt standing squarely in the doorway, with his thumbs in the beltloops of his jeans, as if summoned, and giving absolutely no question as to who he could possibly be.

"I think," he said, with a pint-sized sort of voice with a distinct lisp to it, "I thmell... brek'est."

He was so cuuuuuuute. "You do indeed," Shuri said, grinning. "And it's real maple syrup."

Because she knew he had opinions.

That he did.

"Well, den," said Wayne, who took that as invitation enough to come on inside the room, "pitter patter, lesth get at'er."

Then, remembering his manners, he looked up and gave the girl a very firm and serious nod before he asked, "How're ya now?"

Good manners were important! His dad would be proud.

"I'm very well," Shuri told him. "I'm Shuri. Who are you?"

"I'm Wayne!" he said, with a great deal of pride for such a little fellow, shoulders squared and chin held up importantly. And then his eyes started to drift curiously toward the counters. "What're ya makin'? D'ya need help...Thuri?"

Her name just had to have an S-sound in it, didn't it?

"I'ma good helper."

There was food that he didn't need to figure out how to cook, ergo Trevor was there. Even though he was a little smaller right now.

Also, kinda polite.

"Hello," he said, looking hopeful that she understood how this kitchen worked.

"How're ya now?" offered Wayne, nodding at the other boy.

And, since he still didn't have the patience to wait to do the whole thing, he quickly added, "We're makin' brek'est."

"Brek'est?" Trevor repeated. See, if it was an inexplicably Cockney accent, he could have figured that out. Canadian? right out of his wheelhouse.

"Y'know," said Wayne, gesturing stiffly with both of his hands toward the counter, "brek'est! Waffleth an' maple thyrup!" That was an important part! "An' a fruit thalad, too."

"...is that food?" Please say yes. Or 'yeth' maybe.

In some distant land, the combination of that accent and Trevor's backstory made an Igor.

"Hi there," Shuri said. "Are you hungry?"

"He said you were cooking for everyone," Trevor said, pointing over at Wayne in case that wasn't the case. Covering his bases.

"I am," Shuri confirmed. "Do you like waffles? Or, um--" she rifled through the shelves, "unicorn-stamped Pop-tarts?"

[crack_that_whip]

Trevor had no fucking clue what a Pop-tart was, but he was gonna venture a no there, Shuri. Just gonna venture a no.

"A waffle," he said. "Please."

It was so precious that he knew his social niceties at this age!

Nina was really, really happy that she had a brother and all but while he'd been busy getting ready for the day, she'd made a break for it.

Adventure had called so she'd made her way down the stairs, a whirlwind of blonde hair and bounced into the common room on the floor below.

"HI HI HI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she announced. "GOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Prompto would probably find her eventually, so she wasn't worried she'd lost him.

"Aw, heck," murmured Wayne with a squinting pout. "It'th the thouter."

And so he felt it was his duty to remind her.

"YER INTHIDE! UTHE INTHIDE VOITHES!"

In a decidedly not inside voice.

"DON'T BE MEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina shouted right on back at him. "YOU STARTED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

... It made sense to her?

"And whoever thmelt it," said Wayne, narrowing his eyes, "dealt it."

Which didn't apply at all to this situation, Wayne, but okay, sure, at least you made it sound like it could be relevent.

"There'th no need ta be runnin' around and thoutin' like that all the time!" he added.

"I DON'T SMELL," she protested, since she'd washed her hands and everything! "AND IF I DON'T TALK THIS LOUD NO ONE HEARS ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

It could only be Nina. "Have you heard of an inside voice?"

Trevor not so subtly hid behind a chair. Because wow. Just wow. That was some energy going on there.

She ran over to the chair.

"ARE YOU PLAYING A GAME?????????????????????"
