Dorm Room, Sunday Morning
Trevor was totally getting a hang of this place. He knew how to use a toaster now, he knew that there was food in the fridges. Also what fridges were. So, you know. Doin' just fine.
But the highlight of it all was finding out that there was a tree on the roof that had pillows as fruit. Made about as much sense as anything else this weekend, so there he was picking aaaall the pillows for what might end up being a pillow fort once he got them all inside.
Living the dream.

"No, no, I have nothing to do with your family! I just -- you remind me of someone I know who's also named Trevor, that's all."
She fidgeted, and then stuck a hand out. "Hi. I'm Keyleth. It's nice to meet you."
You were never hearing the end of this later, Trevor. Never.

"It's nice to meet you?" It was definitely a question.

"How are you doing?" Keyleth asked, deciding that him phrasing it as a question was better than, say, screaming and running away from her. "Did you just discover this tree today?"

"I know!" she whispered back, grinning. "Isn't it neat? Have you ever been someplace like this before?"
no subject
"Not like this," Trevor replied, shaking his head. "I think it's magic. But maybe good magic?"
Not the murder kind!

Something he'd said, though.
"Did you say your family sends you out on training missions? Already?"
Sliiiiiightly less of a grin, now.
no subject
Socializing was training too, but go off, Trevor.
"I've nearly gotten the bestiary memorized now and nothing from it has shown up!"
no subject
"Well," she said, because she didn't imagine spending an entire childhood in serious training was any more fun for him than it had been for her, "think of it as a different kind of lesson. Because we might have really, really important futures to consider and a lot of preparing to do for them, but you know what? We're also going to have to deal with other people sometimes when we get there, and that's something that takes practice, too."
Her expression was sympathetic. Knowing how to people was hard.

Somehow it hadn't passed his notice that the folks who lived on the Belmont land tended to avoid the whole Belmont clan whenever possible.
no subject
That was maybe overly optimistic, but hey.
no subject
THEY HAD BEEN AMAZING.

She paused.
"People around here tend to randomly feed other people all the time anyway, but I doubt they'd do it for people they were scared of."

no subject
Be emo about the loud noise, maybe. But not scared of it.
no subject
Which was a lot.

“I wouldn’t know what that’s like. It was always just me.”
no subject
"Oh." Well. That made him sad, so there. "You can come visit and I'll share them with you!"

You asked, Keyleth. You asked for this ungodly collection of French names.
no subject
HER HEART WAS BREAKING FOR YOU NOW, TREVOR.

"Still," Keyleth said, awkwardly. Like she was ever not awkward. "You have a really big family. What's that like?"
