Dorm Room, Sunday Morning

Trevor was totally getting a hang of this place. He knew how to use a toaster now, he knew that there was food in the fridges. Also what fridges were. So, you know. Doin' just fine.

But the highlight of it all was finding out that there was a tree on the roof that had pillows as fruit. Made about as much sense as anything else this weekend, so there he was picking aaaall the pillows for what might end up being a pillow fort once he got them all inside.

Living the dream.

Sabine probably shouldn't be on the roof, but there wasn't anyone here to yell at her and she was generally encouraged on stuff anyway, so she could see what was up here.

"Did you bring pillows on the roof?"

"No, I'm bringing them off the roof." Again: living the dream.

"Why?"

Keyleth had wandered up to check on the roof garden, the way she did every now and then, because plants were easier to deal with than a surplus of small children. (Okay, small children were easier to deal with than teenagers and adults, but still. Dealing with people at all was a lot.)

"Oh, hi," she said to the little boy who looked ... vaguely familiar somehow? "Are you going to make a pillow fort?"

"Because." Part two of his plan was still hazy, kid."

"Okay... why are pillows on the roof?"

She was pretty sure that was weird.

Was it the big embroidered B he had on his clothes? Because christ, Trevor. That was a bit much.

"Hello," he replied, looking at the pillow pile to decide if there was enough for that. "I thought it'd be better than waiting around here."

"They're on a tree," Trevor replied, pointing up at them. Less weird than some things, honestly. "Might be magic."

"Pillows don't come from trees," Sabine said, even as she frowned at the tree. Was this a trick?

Yes, it was a bit much, but it was convenient! And plenty enough of a hint when you had a high passive perception like Keyleth did.

She was looking a little more closely at the crest now, though, because it did seem familiar. If she was unsure at all, it was just that the lack of emo was throwing her off, okay?

"Aw, are you bored?" she asked. "And -- sorry, this is going to sound weird, but is your name Trevor by any chance?"

"They do from this tree," he replied even as he took looked pretty dubious about it all. "You can help if you want. No shouting."

Guess who he met yesterday, Sabine.

His emo was situational! His tragic, tragic backstory.

"Yes," Trevor replied slowly. "Did my family send you to collect me? Because this isn't a very good training mission."

Wait, that was rude and she was nominally a grown up.

"Sorry."

"I don't shout," she insisted. "Shouting isn't stealthy."

"Why would you be stealthy?" Trevor asked, giving her a suspicious look.

"For war," Sabine told him. "Until, boom! You get the enemy."

Mandalorians, man.

"You're, like, four." He doubted your stealth abilities, Sabine.

"Five, and I'm great at stealth."

...For a five-year-old.

"Didn't sneak up on me." An old, wise ten year old.

"I wasn't trying to."

So there.

"Oh, wow," Keyleth mumbled to herself before shaking her head, maybe a touch too emphatically.

"No, no, I have nothing to do with your family! I just -- you remind me of someone I know who's also named Trevor, that's all."

She fidgeted, and then stuck a hand out. "Hi. I'm Keyleth. It's nice to meet you."

You were never hearing the end of this later, Trevor. Never.

"Why not?" Trevor. Trevor, why argue this?

[crack_that_whip]

That was hurtful and rude, Keyleth. He was so nice to you!

"It's nice to meet you?" It was definitely a question.

"Because I wanted to know about pillows," Sabine sighed.

[crack_that_whip]

Trevor sighed, seeming to realize this was a lost cause. "Do you want to help?"

"Maybe. You didn't say why you're doing it," she pointed out.

She really did want to pull pillows down, though.
