Third Floor Common Room; Monday Morning [01/04].

Well, Wayne hadn't really gotten much of a chance to get the word out about Monday Morning Breakfast to any of the new kids, but, fuck, there were only four of them, and where word of mouth failed, it seemed this place had a good habit of spreading word of nose once things really got cooking. And he felt much less crunched for time now that he didn't have a first period class (or any class on Mondays, fuck!), so he coudl really enjoy just a good solid morning full of making food and feeding friends.

With it being the first MMB of the semester, he stuck with all the usual, often moddable classics, especially the pancakes and the bacon and the eggs and potatoes, but also some fruit for more healthfully minded, plenty of juice and milk in the fridge, and, of course, some good fucking coffee in the pot.

It was, after all, the most important meal of the day, especially when that day was Monday!

Elli looked a little rueful.

"I can't speak for my entire universe," she said apologetically. "But my home is a small farming community, so it's very quiet and friendly and everyone knows everybody."

And it was safe and blessedly normal.

"Oh my, that sounds very similar to Ferndale where I grew up," Enola said. "I lived there until I was sixteen. Coming here must have been quite the experience."

"It was," she said, giving a sideways glance as Jules and... the mountain lion wandered in. "I'm afraid I spent the first week absolutely terrified of my shadow."

She was still pretty terrified of everything.

But she didn't burst out in tears because Camden existed anymore?

"You seem like you're adjusting much better than I did!"

"Yes, well, that's probably because my curiosity usually outweighs my common sense," Enola noted with a rueful chuckle. "I tend to run off into situations without thinking everything through. I've learned to be more careful recently but it's a habit I'm trying to break."

Elli's own laugh was pretty rueful too.

"I am, perhaps, a little too cautious," she confessed. "But I'm in training to become a nurse and, oh, knowing what goes on the heal life and limb means I cannot bear to risk it..."

Also there just wasn't much risk to be found in Mineral Town...

"Oh, I can totally see why you would have that mindset. I recently had a bit of a to-do based on the advice of my brother which was reckless in retrospect. There's nothing wrong with being cautious. Just because you are cautious doesn't mean you are worth less than anyone around you. Just more thoughtful."

Elli looked a little startled at the idea of anyone thinking less of her for being unwilling to put herself into the way of bodily harm.

Goddess, what a thing to suggest!

"Oh, I do hope everything worked itself out for you in the end," Elli said genuinely. "That's not why you're here, is it? Some people are sent here as punishment and I think that's cruel."

"On the contrary, my mother wanted me to continue my education away from the misogyny of my era. Or at least that's why I assume I'm here," Enola mused. "Along with the likelihood of staying away from my brothers who would most likely send me to a dreadful finishing school."

"Oh, thank goodness," she said, honestly relieved. "I'm glad that this is a blessing to you rather than a punishment."
