Outside the dorms- fire drill o'clock Thursday morning

You know, it'd been a while since the students had been roused from their beds to go stand outside in the middle of the night while the building around them screamed at them. Tonight was a good night to fix that.

So at exactly 3:00 am, the fire alarms in the dorms began going off, leaving you all to do just that.

"An alarm is going off," Alexis said helpfully. "Do you really need a siren? This island is like two feet wide."

Oh good. It was little miss “I won’t help if it messes up my hair.”

“Yes,” Travis said. “Yes, I do.” He tilted his head to look at the dorms. “Anyone smell any smoke? Any indication what floor a fire might be on?”

In actuality, she'd been willing to help and he told her to sit in a corner. Details.

"No, because there's no fire, and someone probably just pulled an alarm like an asshole," she said, frowning at the truck. "How do you even drive that around here?"

It was not his fault she refused to wear basic safety equipment.

“Carefully,” Travis said. “Probably not a pulled alarm, not unless whoever it was coordinated with every other building in town.”

This had gone very quickly from interesting to irritating, yes.

It was in fact his fault she didn't help. She would not accept his slander.

"Okay, well, can you make it not?" she asked.

“Sure.” Travis nodded. “Once I make sure nothing’s burning and neither you nor your classmates are going to suffocate in there when you go back to bed.”

"Okay," Alexis said, literally making a shooing motion toward the building. "I mean there's nothing going on in there but whatever makes it stop."

“I’ll take your clearly very professional opinion under advisement,” Travis said dryly.

"Prove me wrong!" Alexis invited.

It was going to be so satisfying when it was nothing.

"Yeah, I'm not going to bet with a teenager on whether or not her dorm is on fire," Travis said. "I'll be perfectly happy for this to be nothing. I'm also still going to need to check before anyone goes back to bed."

"Can you just like... go do it?" Alexis said. "Since you're too good to be betting with a teenager and all about how this totally could be a fire."

Travis scowled, disliking that this was going to turn out to look like he was taking orders from her.

"I'm making sure everyone out here is okay, first. And then going in."

"Well I'm great, thank you," Alexis said sweetly.

Maybe he'd go make this stop now?

"Uh huh." Travis gestured a little ways down the lawn. "Make sure to keep you distance, ma'am."

And started checking on the other kids on his way towards the entrance.
