Third Floor Common Room - Wednesday late afternoon/early evening

Jo was not aware of anything really unusual happening at Fandom, sure some things were a bit weird but everything was weird to her so she hadn’t really paid much attention to what was going on.

Classes were over for the week for her and she decided to try some takeout. She decided on Thai and was surprised when instead of one dish she ended up with way more than what she had ordered.

So Jo was now in the common room and had set up the left over food in case anyone wanted some, there was no way she was going to eat all of it herself and while she was here she put out a couple of boxes of chocolates and sweets that she had already received from home. She found herself distracted by the TV since she was amazed at how big it was compared to the tiny tv that her family had (and that tv was considered state of the art in 1952)

Sakaki, meanwhile, didn't have any classes at all until Friday, and then she had all the classes, so having such a long stretch without much to do except study her veterinary books and try to make some cat toy peace offerings for the cats at the shelter, she was restless enough to go venturing out and upstairs to see who might else be around.

Which was why her head was tentatively poked into the door when she heard activity in the common room and she asked, "Hello, may...may I join you?"

This wasn't her floor, she didn't know if that was okay or not.

“Hello,” Jo smiled, turning from the tv, “sure come in, are you hungry? I ended up with more food than I anticipated,”

"Oh." Now that someone had mentioned it, Sakaki realized that she actually was a little hungry, and moved into the room with interest. "If...you don't mind, thank you." She gave an awkward hald-boe, mostly out of trying to stop a deeply ingrained habit too late. "What do you have?"

“I think there’s a bit of everything here,” Jo said, “I haven’t really tried Thai before but there’s some pad Thai and green curry,” there was a pause but not a dramatic pause like someone else currently on the island, “the sweets are from home though, they’re quite excellent,” she said. “I’m Jo by the way,”

Sakaki drifted over toward the food. It might be a moment before she got any, but sje'd get there.

She turned to the other girl with a nod. "My name is Sakaki," she offered.

There was a pause, more for shyness than dramatic effect like with some, but it inadvertently probably came off that way regardless.

"Are you....one of the new students?"

“I am,” She nodded, “Last week I was in 1952 South West England, it’s been a bit of adjustment"

And there was Harry, tucked away in the corner, recording his podcast.

Jo didn’t know what a podcast was so she kept staring in Harry’s direction, she wondered if it was like a wireless broadcast.

"And we're back. We have a guest today," Harry said, waving her over. "How are you doing today..."

He did not know your name.

“Er….I’m Jo,” she stammered, after she had walked over, still a bit unsure, “I’m quite well thank you, how are you?” she could still be polite even if she was a bit confused.

It was sort of hard not to notice her roommate in the corner, talking to himself. About sleeping? And murder?

Sakaki was just going to frown at you, Harry, confused, and wondering if she should say something or just let him do his thing...

"And next we have Sakaki, here to tell us about her favorite murders," he invited.

Well, that was unexpected! Enough so that Sakaki let pit a little sound of surprise and shock before she could respond with any words at all.

"My...my favorite...murder?" she gawked. "But I don't have any of those!"

Why would she?? Murder was terrible!

"What about favorite true crime?" Everyone had one of those, right!

It was a good thing that this was happening late because Tahani didn't wake up until after noon.

"Hello everyone!" she trilled, waving her fabulous nails as she pranced into the room. "How are you?"

Jo startled a bit and glanced up at that entrance, “er-hello,,” she said and had a moments pause, only a moment because she wasn’t pausing dramatically today like some people, “everything’s been quite good today,” she smiled, “how are you?”

"I am delightful," Tahani said, and her nails had changed to another, equally fabulous color as she waved them. "I am Tahani. Who are you and what are you wearing? Is it vintage?"

"I'm Jo," she said, noticing the change in nail colours and being rather impressed, "it's Balenciaga," she said, glancing down at her dress, she hadn't really thought how her clothes wouldn't be considered the latest styles now, "er they were brand new last week when my mother took me shopping," because of course Jo's mother had taken her on an expensive shopping trip right before school started. "I mean last week I was also in 1952," she added.

"So it's both vintage and new," Tahani said. "Fascinating!"
