Second Floor Common Room- Thursday Morning

With the current stash of leftovers in their new dorm fridge gone, Kurt made his way to the common room for something quick and easy for breakfast. He soon found some cereal in one of the cabinets and was settling down with a bowl as he sat at the table and got to work on the reading assignment for his Book and Movie class. Fortunately, it was a story he was very familiar with but he decided to challenge himself a little and give it a read in a different version than he was used to. And so there he sat with the bowl in front of him, the book held nearby securely in his tail.

Harry got a surly little grunt around coffee. Which was exactly where the mood of the morning was for Five.

Also, he knew Harry. Which was totally novel.

And because he knew Five, he could say, "You too, huh?" because that was the closest he was coming to cracking a joke this morning.

"No one started the coffee," Five grumbled. Because finally, someone who understood that mornings were for silent contemplation and hating the sun.

"That's terrible of them."

Harry didn't drink coffee. But agreeing felt like the thing to do.

"Philistines," Five all but hissed, holding his cup close. The blend could have been better, but he wasn't buying the nice stuff for here.

"Are you going to be all right?" Harry asked wryly.

[apocalypsehow]

"I've survived worse." Five, no. Don't say things like that. You were jinxing everyone.

[imawizard]

"Optimistic way of looking at it," Harry said.

[apocalypsehow]

"It hasn't failed me so far," Five replied thoughtfully. "This place inspires me to survive all new ridiculous things."

"Inspires? I thought here you just had to... survive it," he said, digging into the cabinet for a Pop Tart.

[apocalypsehow]

"Not everyone has the chutzpah for it," Five muttered into his coffee mug.

And some people were just actively trying to get themselves killed. Like, say, some of his idiot siblings.

"I think those people probably don't last long here."

For several reasons, really.

[apocalypsehow]

"True." Five, don't look like you wanted to take bets on who would die first.
