Dorm Room 229 - Thursday Afternoon

There had been a lot going on between a full class schedule and still getting fully comfortable with the island. Kurt did very muchlook forward to the day he knew his way around enough he could really start porting around more easily. But that was still a little ways off, unfortunately.

So after walking back from morning class, and after a quick stop for some snacks and supplies, Kurt headed back to the dorm room. It was going to be a good day. He and Guillermo had a full day of goofing off, geeking out, and having fun planned, and Kurt couldn't wait!

"Picked up a few extra things on the way back" he said holding up the bags with a grin. "We should be good to go!"

For the roomie but anyone can stop by and join the geeky fun if they want!

Guillermo was definitely glad that he had no classes today and could take it easy just hanging around with Kurt. He was not used to drinking so much and those shots would take some getting used to.

“Oh that’s great!” Guillermo grinned at Kurt, as he looked at what he’d gotten, “this is going to be awesome!”

Kurt finished putting the last few things in the mini fridge and gave his roomie a thumbs up and a big grin.

"A wonderful way to spend the day I'd say! Better than classes anyway!"

Guillermo laughed, “I’m definitely glad I don’t have classes today,” he added, “I agree this is a much better way to spend the day,”

"So, shall we start with a movie?" Kurt suggested. "I admit I haven't seen very many vampire movies so your collection is looking quite temping. Got one in there that would be good for a relative newbie to it all?"

“Well Interview with a Vampire’s always a good one up start with, unless you want to go right back and start with Nosferatu and we could make out way through the films chronologically?” Guillermo suggested. He honestly had no preference so he was more than happy for Kurt to decide.

"Let's start with Interview" Kurt said after a moment or two of thought. "I know of that one and it always looked interesting!"

“Oh you’re definitely in for a treat,” Guillermo beamed as he went to get his dvd, “it’s got a great cast but my favourite has always been Antonio Banderas, it was so inspiring watching him when I was younger,”

Kurt smiled and got things ready, once again glad they had set things up so they could have the TV easily viewable. While Guillermo got things set up, Kurt went to the fridge and brought out some ~~very modable~~ snacks and drinks for them.

"Ah that name I know!" he said with a grin.

"He's one of my favourite actors," Guillermo ~~fanboyed~~ gushed as he finished getting the movie ready to go, "I'd never seen a Spanish actor before, at least in a major role at that point and the fact that he was playing a vampire, that was even more amazing to me,"

That was admittedly one thing Kurt kind of felt he had missed out on a bit growing up. And yeah it wasn't a big deal or anything, but he was quickly finding out there was a lot he had missed out on growing up in a home without much tech at all.

"That is really cool!" Kurt said with a nod. He knew he'd feel the same way if there were ever a chance of seeing someone like himself on the TV. "I can see why that would be something special for you" Kurt said as he se the snacks on the table.

"I think I'll take the hammock," he said with a nod towards it. "You can bring the ~~handwaved~~ bean bag chair or something else over if you want."

"Oh the bean bag chair is absolutely fine, that's going to be great to sit on," Guillermo grinned as he picked it up to bring it closer, "I think it will make it an even more enjoyable way to watch the movie," he added.

"Awesome!" Kurt got situated in the hammock a drink in one hand and a bowl of popcorn ready to go, which he was holding out with his tail so Guillermo could reach it also once he was settled down.

"Oh that is definitely cool," Guillermo grinned at seeing how Kurt was holding the popcorn, once he had sat down and then he reached out to take some popcorn, "hey thanks,"

"Yeah it is a bit useful at times" Kurt said with a chuckle. "Even for giving the photography teacher a bit of a hear attack" he said with a smirk, thinking back to Prompto's reaction to his photography stunt the other day.

"Though, there are some times it is a bit annoying and in the way. But I've had it all my life so kinda used to it... obviously."

"Did you at least get a good shot while you were doing it though?" Guillermo couldn't help but wonder, "that would have had to been pretty awesome!" he exclaimed and then he paused as he listened to the rest of what Kurt saying, "oh, that does sound like it could make things difficult, how do you manage when that happens?"

"Aye, I think I did" Kurt said with a big grin. "Remind me after the movie and I can show you! And as far as the tail goes, usually it's usually just a matter of sticking it up under my shirt or something if I need to try and hide it."

Kurt paused a moment before mentioning the next way he had been dealing with his tail and... well... everything else before coming to Fandom.

"Back home at the school I was going to most people either thought Mutants weren't real or they were afraid of us and hated us. So, the Professor gave me a special watch I could wear that that would make me look normal when I was wearing it. It's a little harder than putting on a pair of glasses like Scott does, wearing gloves like Rogue, or just looking fairly normal like Logan. So yeah it took a little more to hide this" he said giving a general hand wave to himself.

“Oh absolutely, I’ll definitely remind you,” Guillermo grinned and then he listened to Kurt explain how he hid his appearance.

He listened and nodded, “well I’m glad you don’t have to hide who are here,” he said sincerely, “I think you’re amazing just the way you are,”

"Hey thanks" Kurt said with a grin. "You're pretty awesome yourself!"

Kurt took a handful of popcorn and then looked over at Gulliermo. "How have classes and all been for you so far? Got any you really like or a favorite teacher or anything yet?"

Guillermo returned the grin, "you're welcome, thanks," he said and then in response to Kurt's question nodded, "classes have been pretty good overall, I think PE is going to be a bit more challenging because of well ..." of how uncoordinated and unfit he was but Kurt had seen how bad he was at running the other week, "I really like bakineering, we got to make an edible volcano yesterday, it was awesome!" Guillermo revealed, "how about you, how have classes been for you?"

"Classes are good. They are all really interesting. A lot better than the classes back at my old school, that's for sure."

Kurt paused a moment as he thought about all the classes he had.

"I really enjoy our Weapons class he have together, and PE too" Kurt said with a nod. "I really am liking the Photography class more than I thought I would. The Monday Evening Community Center class is really interesting to. I... I really like Dr. Lecter and Prince Sidon is amazing to listen to and talk to also."

"Oh I'm also enjoying Dr. Lecter's class," Guillermo nodded, "I'm really enjoy learning the different aspects of cooking, I haven't met Prince Sidon yet ... I've seen him around though," because it wasn't like he would be hard to miss.

"I should probably write back to the Professor soon, let them back at the Academy know how things are going." Kurt said with a thoughtful nod of realization. "I told him I would keep in touch. And after what all happened at my last school, I think I owe him a bit of thanks for getting me in here at Fandom High."

"I'm sure they'd like that, to know how you're doing," Guillermo nodded, "I've been ~~so very handwavily~~ calling my mum every other day, she gave me my phone so I could keep in contact," he paused, "even though I've been told my phone is very outdated and I'll need to upgrade it,"

"We can always hit up T&C and see if they have a decent phone" Kurt suggested. "They seem to have a little bit of everything. We could both probably find a nice upgrade that would work."

"I've been meaning to get around and do that, so that would be pretty cool if we could," Guillermo nodded, "I'm still trying to catch up on some of the newer technology, even though it's only been nearly twenty years, it's rather surprising how much has actually changed,"

"I can't even imagine that big of a jump. It was a small jump for me but things haven't changed much, just little improvements and advancements with the tech and all" Kurt said as he pulled out his phone and held it up. "It's not too bad but I've been told it is still a bit behind the times. It can do photos at least so that's not too bad."

He flipped through the phone for a minute or two then held it out to Guillermo to see the Family Photo he had pulled up. "Easier than trying to lug photos around everywhere at least."

“Oh wow, I can see how that would definitely be useful,” Guillermo said as he looked at the photo that Kurt showed him and he took out his nokia, “mine can’t even take photos or do much of anything, even though I think that’s pretty standard for phones back home,” he revealed, “there’s this game called snake that I play a lot of though, that’s about the only other feature it has,”

"Oh, I don't think I have ever heard of that game" Kurt said. "You will have to show me how to play it sometime. I know a lot of the newer phones can do all sorts of things and play a lot of different games and all. I don't even know if mine can though" he admitted.

[I'm so sorry- 20degree temps with no heat in Fl has made for a miserable two days!]

"I can definitely do that, there's not much to the game but it is a lot of fun," Guillermo nodded with a grin, "I mean the only people I know who I can call on my phone are my mum and Jeremy so I think I spend most of it just playing -" he said, "but that sounds pretty cool about the newer phones though - I think I definitely need to look into that," he paused, "does your phone have the internet?" he asked curiously.

[ouch, no worries at all! sorry I meant to reply earlier but work has been pretty chaotic so my hours are all over the place at the moment with rp]

"It has basic internet," Kurt said glancing at the phone. "Nothing fancy but it can send texts and do basic social media access and such. From what I've heard, it's pretty out of date already too."

Guillermo nodded, "I haven't even looked into social media, I've heard about it but don't really know all that much about it yet," he admitted, "it's not a thing back home, I mean there's chat rooms and stuff but that's about it really,"

"Same here really. I haven't signed up or anything. Will have to see how it all works" Kurt said thoughtfully. "Back home things are so bad that it's hammered into us pretty regularly to no post things online that can help people find us or find out who we are."

He paused for a moment and gave a slight smile.

"I'll ask Summer about it next time I see her. If things stay here in this world and don't bleed over, I think it should all be good. Would be nice to finally see what all the fuss is about."

"I can see how that would be pretty bad," Guillermo nodded thoughtfully, "you'll have to let me know what she says," he said, "it'd be interesting to have a look and try and catch up on what's been happening these last couple of decades,"

"Would be easier to catch up on things for sure" Kurt said with a grin and a slight nod to the TV and the movie that was playing. "Would let you see what else Banderas has been up to!"

"Absolutely, I think that would be fun to see more recent movies that he's been in that haven't even come out back home," Guillermo grinned back.
