Second floor common room- Friday morning
Harry wasn't huge on caffeine but he was kind of dragging some by now. It also hasn't occurred to him that there was maybe a spell or something that would take care of this. More than likely the letter he'd sent back to Hermione this week complaining would get a response of "if only you had tried ____" the day after this ended.
For now though he was contemplating a chocolate Pop Tart in the kitchen. Chocolate had caffeine, right? Did chocolate count? Would this help? Would he try either way? (Yes, no, no, yes.)

"Oh, hello, Harry!" she greeted brightly as she went ahead and walked in, blissfully unaware of anything the island could potentially be depriving her of at the moment, since caffeine and alcohol were almost strictly forbidden. "Good morning! Were you thinking of making breakfast?"

But her expression went sympathetic, remembering the near epidemic of headachy, lethargic people who filled her clinic shift yesterday. "Are you dealing with that whole caffeine withdrawal thing, too?"

By now, she made it to the fridge, though, opening it up to take stock of what could be useful inside. "A good hearty breakfast," she said, already reaching for some eggs, "is probably a better start to the day, anyway."

"I wasn't allowed to have Pop Tarts, either," she added, just as smart, especially since no one here seemed to care if she gave back out what was dished out to her, "so I wouldn't know, but something tells me no."
Besides, that response gave her the chance to cover up that little blip of hesitation before explaining, as she grabbed some milk and went looking for flour.
"And intoxicating or stimulating substances are against our beliefs," she explained, significantly more subdued. "Especially when they could be addicting. That just opens the door wide open to all sorts of temptation."

If it wasn't for the state of his fellow students and the teachers, he would have thought it was something to do with his powers or metabolism going into overdrive for some reason. But as it was he was mostly focused on getting something to give him an energy boost head of class.
"What in here has the highest sugar content..." he muttered half out loud as he looked through the pantry cabinets. ..."sugary cereal or pop-tarts?"

Harry, no.

Kurt grabbed a packet of pop-tarts and opened it as he started filling a bowl with the cereal and poured on some milk, using his tail of course to do so.
"I really hope whatever is going on is short lived" he admitted between bites. "I'm not a huge coffee drinker but even the soda is caffeine free. That's just wrong!"

It was because he was tired.

"If it's sugar you're looking for, Kurt," Libby gently chided, because really, now, "you should just have some fruit. Like an apple or a nice banana..."
no subject
"Oh.. hi, Libby" he said after swallowing and gave her a shy grin, glancing from the cereal bowl to Libby and innocently asked "Fruit?"

But he was a teenaged boy and already digging in, so she wasn't expecting she'd win this one, so she just added, "I'm also going to make some eggs and pancakes, if you'd like some."

He'd done so much cooking for her so far, she was not going to lose out on this opportunity to make it up to him!

Look, maybe the food was going to betray them next. There were no guarantees here.

"...I hope he hasn't killed anyone."
It was a very real possibility!
